i have to ask, is anyone else really disapointed with this single? i am not hating, because i am a big saturdays fan. i loved their first 4 singles and thought the album was great (better than girls aloud latest effort). but i do not like this new song 'forever is over', and i strongly believe that it will not do very well in the charts. i think it will struggle to make top 10, i really had high hopes, but she song just seems like an album filler or a 'last single' off of an album. i really hope they come up with better for the next song

It isn't as instant as Up, Issues or Keep Her, but after a couple of listens, it's okay.

I think Work, Up and Issues are much better but I do like Forever Is Over. It'll either do very well or very badly, IMO. It's not as catchy, nor as fun as Up/Work but it's still an impressive powerful song. If they get to promote this on X Factor or something it *could* be #1?

I don't really like it. Maybe I was just expecting it to be much better because of what they had said before - something about it showing they were as good as Girls Aloud, but not the same? I can't remember exactly, I just know I was really expecting it to be an amazing song. I feel a bit let down - it doesn't stick in my head and it's just a bit boring, to be honest. I've given it loads of listens but it doesn't 'do it' for me.

Still not loving it after many weeks

I just feel the sats have rushed this album. They were recording the album around the time their first album was released because one of the girls said it in an interview. They were barely in L.A a month while doing it.

It is underwhelming, yes. Also, i agree with the previous poster ^ in that they've not even had a break, everything just seems soo rushed!!

I'm disappointed in it too because I hate the chorus,so even though I quite like the rest of it,the chorus drags it down, and it does feel like a last single,or even not a single at all,to me. I must admit I expected it to be much better than it is after hearing One Shot and Wordshaker on the tour,I thought it would be similar to one of those, but it isn't. It just hasn't clicked with me at all.

If they were recording it around the same time as the first album was released, they've been recording it for almost a year, hardly rushed but it's not true anyway. They first heard Forever Is Over a year ago but only recorded it in LA in August.

They started recording the album in March this year and finished it in August in LA. Not all the songs were recorded in America. The last album only had one song made by American producers (Issues), the rest were recorded here and in Sweden. They spent a similar time on the last album to this album. They probably had to rush more the first time round because they were due to support Girls Aloud.

They don't actually have much to do in terms of getting the album together anyway. They just have to turn up and record. The record label will have already lined up songs for them to record. They shouldn't have released Work so late though. If it was released in May as originally planned, we would have a good five month gap.

It took a while to grow on me, but I like it. They've been very busy though, seems as if they haven't taken a break. A break would do them good I think. They've toured loads (with Girls Aloud as well as on their own, I believe...(?)), released an album, a couple of singles, did the official Comic Relief song along with tons of promotion and now they're about to release their second album (I would assume, no date has been set/statement released etc)

They've lost a bit of sparkle on this single, maybe they're all tired.

Who ever is singing the lead vocal on the chorus needs to tone it down - sounds way too shouty I don't know why they feel the need to go down the "we want to be taken more seriously so we're doing rockier songs from now on" route so soon after their debut album. A change in musical direction is not needed already, especially when it leads to this blandness being released.

Well thanks for confirming that but how do you know this. I am not calling you a liar or thinking "i'm gonna get this person back cos they proved me wrong" but i am just curious to know how you know this?

I like the song and the video is good with its 'so bad it's good' acting. On the other hand, I do think that releasing the first single from the new album so close after the last one from the previous album shows a lack of faith from the record label, as if they think the public won't remember The Saturdays if they leave it too long. Written a bit more about this on the blog.

I think it will chart quite well but I don't think the general public will notice it as a first single from a different album campaign.

A few months ago, the Saturdays got wound up by the Dolly Rochers slagging them off - and now they have been reported to be slagging off the Sugababes and Girls Aloud! Not exactly a smart move - especially when the two bands have such a huge following!

I hate the saturdays - the music from their last album was ok - not great - their new single is even worse and to top it all off they start slagging off the sugababes and girls aloud. They are not even close to be as good as them. They are well and truely up their own arses. They should be trying to win over people into becoming their fans not ailenating the fans of girls aloud and sugababes. The sooner they disappear the better.

Girls just try a bit of dignity - dont slag people off or your not going to have any fans left.

I have to say that Rochelle is seriously putting me off the band. Although, they've all denied that they slagged off Girls Aloud and Sugababes, her latest tirade against Kanye West makes her come across as a pompous, self important, immature little girl who is so up her own backside, she can't see straight.

As if Kanye West knows who the Saturdays are, let alone wants to collaborate with them! Please, girls, you couldn't even get a number one with a Comic Relief song!

Agree with OP. Unbelievably disappointing and I loved their last album. Hate to say it but I think this could really hinder their career...doubt it will make top 10- which could really mark the start of the end for a band in their position (still proving themselves). They're gonna have to come out with an absolute stonker next to make up for this. Saw them on tour and "Wordshaker" was brilliant! Wish they'd realised that ...incredibly catchy after just one listen.

Oh and P.S. I agree the vocals sound dreadful on the chorus.

Really dissapointed by this.

Its written by james bourne from busted and sounds REALLY dated and like something that would have been released during busted's time.. its like really bad pop/rock.

Theres better songs on their debut album then this!

the verses are ok but the chorus is annoying and repetitive, it's like some dreary pop ballad. not the sort of song i'd like to hear from them. i'd rather some catchy normal pop song like Up or If This Is Love.
