CBS brand coming to UK
I'm guessing that this could mean they will air Big Brother USA?

I was hoping they would air Survivor.
I still don't understand why nobody has really picked it up over here (except challenge for one season). |

That's great news if they air Survivor, Big Brother and The Amazing Race. All the potential UK fans that find it too difficult to keep up with by downloading will finally get a chance to see them.
Should make the forums busier, especially after BBUK ends next year.

That doesn't definitely mean they are going to show any reality TV, but I'd think with four channels they'd at least show one. I'd guess they'd show The Amazing Race, as it is more of a critics fave and has won a bunch of Emmys. But it is possible they'd show Survivor too. |

It says they are taking over four channels and that they have a back-catalogue of thousands including comedy, drama and reality.

I'm hoping they show BBUSA, Survivor, TAR, maybe some other US broadcasts from different networks (like BBC America shows Skins, Primeval)

Remember, transmitting a programme does not necessarily mean they own the international rights to it. Endemol owns Big Brother, Castaway Television owns Survivor, and Disney owns Amazing Race.
These pages shows some of the shows they actually own the rights to. Generally older stuff that's already been seen, or newer stuff that would go on to more prominent channels with a larger audience. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS_Studios_International http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS_Tel...n_Distribution |

CBS does not have the rights to Big Brother, The Amazing Race or Survivor.
These channels will only show CBS Studios shows. |

Sounds like you'll be getting Rod Serling's classic The Twilight Zone.
This is a good thing. |

I could see CBS doing a sub-license with Big Brother USA. C4 could sub-license BB12 USA to the CBS UK channels under a provision it doesn't directly compete with BB11 UK. After that CBS could acquire the UK rights for each future series beginning with BB13 USA (if it happens). It just depends on how the deals are written. I know in the USA The African Channel can air past seasons of Big Brother Africa when BB USA is off air. The African Channel isn't owned by a major company in the USA.
Also I could see them getting the rights for Survivor as well. Same for The Amazing Race. Or in 2012 CBS UK could just acquire the UK rights to all three and launch UK versions of BB, Survivor & Amazing Race. (This idea most likely won't happen unless the channels get the amount of viewers similar to Five, C4, ITV2, etc.) |

Big Brother USA is a cheap way of filling anyone's channel. 3 times per week only
