It seems like everyone's got it in for poor Chris!

He's known to anyone who watches BBC Breakfast and he always comes across as very likeable. As long as he dances well I think he'll be safe (i.e. his lack of coverage alone won't see him go out first).

Same here Buddy
Im just going on the clips I have seen so far, not by word of mouth or anything

I think that to Xassy, I think she will be quite a good dancer but may lack a vibrant personality and people may not warm to her as much. Saying that she does have Matthew as her partner and lots of people will vote for Matthew alone, so she could be lucky

She was known for being quite vibrant and having a good personality (despite the controversies) when she was on the tennis tour. Hopefully that will come through, but I think it will take a couple of weeks before the nerves subside enough for her to feel comfortable.

She might be another Rachel - a good dancer but lacking in the OOMPH department.

Exactly - but I would loved to be proved wrong!

Don't get me wrong Claire as I think Chris is great and have loved watching him since he did the sport on BBC 24 (or whatever it is called) - his Saturday 'challenge spot' was hilarious and he seemed up for anything!

He can dance too according to Kate Silverton, but I just think he's not well know enough compared with the celebs he's up against to be sure of surviving the earky stages and I hope he can hang on in there until viewers get to know him better!

Me too, especially if it means getting to see more of Matthew Cutler!

However good/bad the celeb is I do think that the Pro's fan base will have a bearing on who stays or goes.

Personally I don't think the pro fan bases on their own are that significant tbh in the grand scheme of things.

I reckon it will be Martina and Matt, although saying that Matt does have one of the largest fanbases I think. But my main thinking (being cynical here) is that getting rid of Matt early is going to solve the awkward situation of Alesha having to pass comment on him and Martina.

Me Three
Mr Cutler is always a sight to behold for me so he can stay as long as he likes haha

For the second week of celebs I think Jo Wood may have the biggest chance of being given the boot but I may be completely and utterly wrong

Didnt mean that the pro fanbases would have a huge influence but that if it is a bit tight between two couples it may have a bearing!

Probably didnt explain myself very well!

I'm not so sure. Some of the male pros have huge fan bases as far as I can see, especially Matt Cutler. Some of the pros are more celebs to fans than the actual celebs!

My top choices this year are definitely guided by the pros not the celebs as I suspect many others would say the same.

I think anyone with a decent fanbase, either celeb or pro, will be pretty safe for the first few weeks.

This means people like Tuffers, any ex/current Eastender, sports man/woman etc will be ok. However bad they are, the public will save them. It's the lesser known celebs and the less popular pros who will suffer.

Having said that, I don't know who will go! (Just hope it's not Martina and Matthew, my faves, ha!)

For the first in bold: the first three celebs voted off last year were ex-Eastenders and all partnered by popular, well known pros

As for the second: I agree!

i despair - so the dancing doesnt count but how popular you were on some crap soap that will govern how the majority get on??

Nonsense.

Last year:

Week 1 - Phil Daniels - Ex-Eastenders voted off
Week 2 - Gillian - Ex-Eastenders voted off
Week 3 - Gary - TV Chef voted off
Week 4 - Jessie - Ex-Eastenders voted off

I have a horrible feeling Chris will go in the first week which is a shame as I love him on Breakfast tv. But we'll have to wait and see. I'm really hoping this year it might depend on the dancing rather than who's in a "crap soap" or whatever.

I think that the weaker dancers are in the second week batch..... I could quite happily see 2 of them go and keep ALL of week 1s....

Of the week 1 contenders - I have a feeling that Chris (not terribly well known to the general public) and Ola (one of the weaker pros) are the most vulnerable

Die hard SCD/ DWTS fans will be watching Martina to see if she is as bad as Monica Seles was on DWTS - she was so terrified she was almost frozen solid. I HOPE Martina is better and doesn't come across as over confident...

I agree it certainly didn't save either Anton or Flavia last year nor did it help Lilia who was in the first dance-off (it was Len and Bruno who saved her and Don not the public) and of course the public choose to save Andrew and Ola and Mark Foster and Hayley ahead of her and Don - bad public - despite the fact that no one seems to have loved Hayley much - I think outside the forums pro supporter actually counts for very little except possiblity working against James.

I think it's amazing that none of you have suggested Lynda is going to be the first.

Firstly, I have to say I agree - But bookmakers have her favourite to be kicked off first? Why? What's there reasoning d'you think?

Even the spokesperson of Ladbrokes doesn't agree with his own prices!

It's tricky to choose between Chris, Ricky and Lynda. According to the dance-prediction thread, both Chris and Ricky have rumba, which should grant them a hefty sympathy vote but also root them to the foot of the table. Older people tend to do really badly early on, but there might be a pro-older lady vote floating around after all the Arlene scandal nonsense.

Joe's not going to leave, and judging from the training footage Jade can best anybody in the dance-off so those two should be safe. I can't see a hunk departing this early, so Rav is almost certainly safe as well.

Abi and Martina are middling. If they end up in the dance-off with any of the first three they should trounce them (even if they do worse dances they'll be saved on "potential"). Any of the latter three and they might struggle. They might have to rely on the judges scoreboard but they should be fine, because I can't see all three of Lynda, Chris or Ricky escaping it.

I'd guess Martina vs Ricky, with Ricky going home but it's a toughie.
