who would agree?

Arguably the two most anticipated albums of the year outside of the commercial pop world fail to live up to expectations. Don't get me wrong, they are decent albums on their own but thats just it, decent isn't what you expect from these two heavyweights.

Don't get me wrong tho there has been some top albums from bands that seem to be getting better and better, Kasabian and The Horrors to name a couple.

I'll reserve my own judgement until I hear them myself.

I agree on the Arctic Monkeys, really disappointed with that one and the ticket sales for their tour reflect it I think.

I'm going to get the Muse album today (if it's out now) so I'll have a listen & decide for myself.

Muse Album takes getting used to, much like Black Holes and Revelations did, I disliked them both on the first listen.

I think Humbug is really good, it did take a few listens though.

I have got to say I might be wrong but have Arctic monkey had there day.

As for Muse I was a big fan of the early work but, when Black Holes & Revelations I could see the change beginning. But when I heard the new work it much a huge let down for something that sounded like Flash Gorden from Queen. It like HMV could do a deal get Muse new album and Flash Gorden, along with Radiohead OK Computer & Amnesiac plus Jeff Buckleys Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk free.

Ouch did I just say that.

Arctics album was a bit disappointing, not as good as it could of been, but Muse's album is fantastic! yes it's different of course but the end result is what matters, it's so original. i'm glad they haven't just replicated a previous album. i think the one thing not going for The Resistance is that it doesn't really have any really big singles on it, like a Knights Of Cydonia or something similar, but still, on the whole i really like it. Undisclosed Desires sounds to me like it could be a hit, so i'm sure some will bemoan that it's a commercial-sounding song, but still, no-one does it as good as Muse!

Original isnt a word I'd use to describe this album..

they've "borrowed" from an american band called Battles, the Dr Who soundtrack, QUEEN, U2, Frederic Chopin, The Lord Of The Rings soundtrack and various other classical artists... infact I'd go as far as to say its their most unoriginal album

I'm not slagging them off though, I still think its a decent album when you get rid of the expectation. but in the context of what you'd expect from Muse it is disapointing

ok sir, whatever you say goes!

i'm no expert on music so i apologize for that, but i tend not to compare songs to others, most of the time i'll just enjoy them for what they are. and i love the album anyway.

Disagree, think the Muse album is superb, I actually prefer it to any of their other albums tbh.

The Muse album is far from disappointing, especially in terms of the mass reception to it. Check out the reviews on iTunes to see what I mean... Other than that, it's all subjective. If you dislike it personally it may be disappointing to you, but not to everybody who listens to it.

Well not being a fan of the Artics I can't comment on that, but I disagree with you about Muse. Very strong album, better than BHAR. It can't be compared to the other albums, each stands alone as a single piece of work.
MK Ultra, Exogenisis, and Unnatural Selection are up there with some of their best songs.

yep, the majority of fans seem to absolutely love it, which is all that really matters.
