O2 Retention deals?
Hi guys,
I've been a loyal customer of O2 for over 3 years - and my contract renewal is up tomorrow. Am I likely to be able to negotiate a good deal because I'm an existing customer? I am thinking about leaving O2.. as it really isn't the cheapest.. so if I mention this, am I likely to get offered any good retention deals? |

Hi Scrounger
Have you considered PAYG? Tesco use the o2 network, you can get a SIM for £1.21 at the checkout. Investigate (Google) your manufacturer + unlock codes. Or for a 3 year old phone, o2 will give you an unlock code free of charge. (hopefully) Scrounger2 |

Oh and if you want to keep your mobile no, that is legally mandatory now. Need a PAC authorisation, takes a couple of days in total.
See checkout leaflet for full details |

im my experience o2 retentions are very good.
Call them up and ask to be put through to retentions. Dont call upgrades they cannot offer you as much as retentions. Been with o2 a while and am curently paying £17/month for 400 minutes, 1000 texts, unlimited o2 to o2 calls and unlimited data. Just ask retentions what they can do, Its their job to keep you so dont be afraid to haggle. |

Especially when Virgin are bombarding me with stuff about £20 a month contracts - because they REWARD customer loyalty (as I already have Virgin Media).
Mobile retentions tends to be based on how profitable a customer you are. Only your mobile provider knows that. Some things to think about - do you use the phone for outgoing calls a lot which might cost more for them to service you? Lots of incoming calls from which they will get revenue? Do you make lots of calls to other networks which will cost them more? |

Of all the stories I have read on here from contract customers, O2 seem to be number one when it comes to their retentions team. I am an O2 customer and a very happy one. I got 600mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet for £19.58 per month. That is the same as the simplicity deal but I was put into an 18 month contract with them and they offered me a free handset, the HTC Touch Diamond.

Hi guys,

I am thinking about leaving O2.. as it really isn't the cheapest.. so if I mention this, am I likely to get offered any good retention deals? This time round I'm lucky to get £5 off so far I've discovered the following: They don't price match anything. You might be able to get £5 off but don't expect anything more. Most phones are free or they can discount, however phones like the W995 they cant offer anything on much like the iphone. Makes no difference how long you have been with them. They don't seem too bothered if you want to leave either though they do tend to offer another bolt on. Best bet is to call up and see what they can do. Be interesting to see what you do or if they offer anything better. |

My contract is now up for renwal with O2 so phoned today for upgrade, got offered nothing different which was on the website for new customers.
Asked for retentions and they asked why i wanted to cancel. I told them i wanted a certain phone Nokia 5800 on a contract same as vodafone. (£15/month). Were not willing to do it. they would offer a returned phone but for £20/month 24 month cvontract but phone would only have 3 months warranty. Have now got my PAC code and will be going into Vodafone over the next few days. So much for loyalty, been with o2 for 5 years. |

Same my contract has been up since the 2nd of Sept as yet 02 have not offered anything that appeals to me, best they can do is knock a fiver off most talk plans.
I'm having to start consider my choices now as my discount for my current contract ends early next month. Just a case of looking at what networks can offer/phones. |

What's the retention number? Or do you just have to go through the usual sales number?

See checkout leaflet for full details You won't be able to because there isn't one. Instead under the MNP rules, the networks are required to provide you with a PAC within a certain period of time, or to tell you why they can't. (eg. You have breached the contract) |

It's a matter of weighing up the pros and cons. My partner is an avid picture sender, o2 suits her needs as the pic messages are deducted from her "unlimited" texts @ 4 per mms. On any other network she would be charged about 35p per text.

Hope they get a good phone line up in the near future. My contractwith them is up soon and I'm looking at their phones (not iphone - overpriced...) and nothing stands out. Palm Pre might be ok, but I bet there's no deals on it.
Any other exciting phones coming to O2 soon? |
