New Whitney Houston LIVE Performance on Oprah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBnvQYgB-aI
This was done on Oprah yesterday, she performs "I Didn't Know My Own Strength". This is 100x times better than what she did recently on GMA! Her voice is clearer and more fluid!!! ![]() ![]() The song itself is a bit of a bore, but I NEVER thought her vocals would come back like this. I know it doesn't compare to her prime, but it's so much better than what she's sounded like recently. !! ![]() Thoughts? |

That is such an improvement! That last note gave me shivers lol. Obviously it's nowhere near as good as her heyday but she's still better then most people. I doubt she will be able to tour though.

It is a big improvment but she is a shadow of her former self. It's quite upsetting, I mean if she wasnt Whitney Houston I wouldnt give a performance like that the time of day. Now she just sounds like a 60 year old lady singing in the church. I know it might seem like im being harsh but that's the way I felt.
Anyway Im looking forward to seeing the interview and still enjoying the album. |

Here's part 1 http://www.thelifefiles.com/2009/09/...oprah-winfrey/ and part 2 here http://www.thelifefiles.com/2009/09/...-oprah-part-2/ and youtube has video clips of Christina and Jennifer Hudson talking about Whitney on the oprah interview, and you can see Whitney's reactions! ![]() She talked about nearly everything, and Oprah asked her all the questions that we wanted to know......BUT, she didn't straight up ask "Why has your voice changed?" Arghhhh, she admitted to the drugs in great detail, but THAT was the question I wanted her opinions on

I agree, that that it does pale in comparison, and I would definitely just skip over this if it wasn't Whitney

Thanks for the links, I will watch it when I get home. |

I think the answer to that question is pretty straight forward. It's the drugs. I think a better question might be how does she feel about it, but I dont think it's nice to ask her anything about that.

Thanks for the links, I will watch it when I get home. You're right, I'd like hear how she feels about the change. I don't think it's rude to ask her about it, because Oprah asks her alot of intrusive questions and her answers are far more shocking than if she talked about her voice specifcally. It's a great interview regardless ![]() Regarding Mariah, the reason her voice has changed so much is due to vocal nodules. Other people say her continual use of the whistle register has also damaged it, but I don't know anything about the mechanics of it to believe it or not. It could also be due to having such an intense career with all the singing. It's still such a shame for the both of them - they must feel so much sadness inside when they sing one of their old songs, and remember how much easier it was to sing the particular note or line

After blaming Bobby Brown for everything
they then bizarrely bring "Michael Jackson" into it.. This interview is a shamelessly emotional "flawed superstar but still an angel" type plug for a comeback album. |

At least she sings live. She could easily mime and make it look like she's still got an incerdible voice.
