Kanye West - Career ruined?
Do you think Kanye has ruined his music career after the incident with Taylor Swift at the VMA's in New York on Sunday?
I personally think his reputation has forever being damaged but many people like his music so I'm unsure as to whether the incident will damage sales of his music. He does deserve it after ruining Taylor's moment. What do you think? |

Its just while there is no other gossip around, the hype will soon die down, Kanye will continue to sell records

Kanye said himself hes gonna take some time out to analyse things, so hopefully he uses the negative experiences to create a monster 5th LP.
Dont get me wrong, I love 808s and Heartbreak, but nothing was ever gonna match Graduation for me. |

No way!
He's done similar things like this many times before. For his fans, and I am included in this, it doesn't take away from his musicianship. I see it as two different things. |

His last album was utter pap, and agree with earlier poster - Graduation was a brilliant album. *Kanye's Workout Song*!

Not surprised in the least. Kanye West has always been a grade "A" pratt and proved it at the VMAs. Dare I say it on here, it did feel a bit of a race thing. RnB pop music good, Country pop music bad.

I don't think so, his personality and his music are two different things, i would say though that he needs to get his ego in check because if it keeps up then eventually he will have a career that will be in tatters

I don't think it'll ruin his career, it'll be another forgotten stupid thing he's done by the time his next album's out as someone said. I've never liked the guy, I don't particularly like his songs (of what I've heard anyway) and his whole appeal is offputting, he seems like 1. He's trying too hard, and 2. He rates himself WAY too highly.
I'm not a HUGE fan of rap, but I am partial to some haha (NOT Eminem before you ask, can't stand him either). But yeah, I personally think Mariah Carey's a Grade A b*tch but she still continues to sell records. As long as he has fans of his music he'll be alright.I still think Beyonce just gets more appealing as time goes on haha, it was a very sweet thing of her to do to give up her speech for Taylor. So I high five her for that ha. Love her!

He might get Taylor to do a guest vocal on the album or something... Imagine the publicity.

As much as it pains me to say this, I don't think his career is ruined. He's done this stuff before, and will most probably do it again and yet he still does well for himself.

It'll probably help him sell more in all honesty.

He could be a big country star perhaps ? He's only one syllable away from that.

Catchy middle name.
It won't make a difference to his career. The people this would put off were never likely to buy his stuff anyway, and it'll just go down as one of those 'controversial' incidents that coincidentally tend to happen at awards shows. |

Jay Z has now thrown in his opinion. I like the fact he said "He didn't kill anybody". Well I am sure if he would have got up on stage grabbed the mic and gave Taylor a beatdown with it I am sure he may have thought that was a least worthy of telling off. Kanye made a mistake he decided to interrupt/upset someone who is extremely popular and well liked (at least in America) and also told the masses that voted they picked the wrong person. He will be back but I think he would be wise to watch his back (and front) at the next award show he attends.

He'll be fine. Someone once said there are no second acts in American lives (F Scott Fitzgerald), but it's no longer true; it's all second acts. If you're famous for something you can keep making money provided you're not dead or not serving a life sentence in prison.
