Media Player - Popcorn A110 or PC Media Centre?
I'm in a bit of a quandry and looking for some help and advice.
I made the mistake of impulse buying a Lacie LaCinema 1TB drive last month. It's ok, but it has no network capability and also the subtitling support is poor as well as video. So that's going and I need a new box. In a nutshell I require: 1) A media station that can store/play my library of xvid/divx files (ripped dvd's) and downloaded tv content. 2) Subtitle support- I find that most divx/xvid players have subtitle support but this is poor. I want to be able to change the size of font and colour ideally and must be .srt compatible. (I'm partially blind and deaf so this is a requisite). 3) Storage/connection with my other pc's or would be advantageous but not necessary. I've been looking into the Network Media Tank Popcorn A110 - it does look to have all of these features, but does seem quite technical and complex to work. Which makes me think - rather than paying £200 for this and then trying to get it to stream wirelessly - i should go for a media centre pc which i could then play my files directly in windows media player with subtitles and also d/l tv shows using torrent. Any other tips or advice? My budget would be c£250 for everything. |

Apart from the lack of HD support, I still love XBMC running on old XBoxes. Quiet, cheap and play just about anything from any network share.
