Urgent Help With iPhone!!!

Please someone help me!

My iPhone screen won't come on. . .I know the phone is on as when someone rings it . . .it rings (on their phone). . .my phone remains silent.

My iPhone makes no noise, and the screen won't come on. I can't wake it up and it's still actually on as people can phone it (even though it only rings from their ear piece).

It just came back on randomly by itself.

Has this happened to anyone else? It's an iPhone 3G and it wouldn't wake up for like 20 minutes, then just woke up and carried out all the commands I had inputted to its blank sleep screen. (screenshot and ringer volume)

1. Tried resetting it? - hold down the home button and the power button for about 6 secs.

2. Tried restoring it from iTunes?

3. If the above fails - I'd take it to an Apple store TBH.

It's done it again. I got it in June 2008 so it's out of warranty and taking it to Apple is something I don't want to do as God knows what price they'll hit me with. My initial plan was to keep this phone and contract until June, then upgrade to the new iPhone. . .but it looks like I may be forced to upgrade to the 3GS in January.

I'll try the forced reset (home and wake buttons for 6 seconds thanks).

also check out the sale of good act. they may have to repair/replace even if out of warranty:

The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) provides consumers with the right to expect any product purchased to last a ‘reasonable time’. The Act does not define how long this ‘reasonable time’ would be, primarily because it would vary from product to product, however, in many cases a ‘reasonable time’ would be longer than twelve months

Did you upgrade to 3.1?

Lots of reported problems of this kind. I'm avoiding it for now.

A mate of mine will be getting his 3rd 3GS in 2 months tomorrow. The first one had a stupidly low battery life, around 3 hours.

His second one has died and doesn't turn on!

It's only started since the update to be honest, and I'm very careful with my technology , it has NEVER been dropped or anything.

I'll put it down to firmware and hope that Apple sort it in an update.

Thanks all.

I think the problems are down to 3.1 myself aswell since updating to it my Iphone has been lagging alot and certain apps crash a few times where they didn't before Apple need to sort it out.

Mines done this now and again since the 3.1 update, seems like a common fault. I was in the Apple store and they suggested doing a restore in Itunes. If that didn't work they said to bring it in and they would fix or replace.

Haven't done it yet as the fault hasn't reappeared. No doubt if it is software there will be another update.

I know someone who had the same problem as this 6 months ago, told them how to reset it, and it came back fine.

Will look out for it tho, i've upgraded mine to 3.1 but only cos I put 3.0.1 on and that was killing my battery
