The remote control certainly looks nicer than the Humax one!

I have been using the Goodman’s 320GB for a few weeks now, it is pretty good, much better than the Sagem. Pros & cons below.

Hmmmm interesting feedback guys.
Have (or could) you guys perform some testing to see if it recovers from a power cut i.e. after power restoration does it record the next scheduled porgram without any user intervention? If possible kill the power under the following circumstances:- 1. Standby (not recording). 2. Viewing a live channel (not recording). 3. Standby (recording a channel). 4. Viewing a live channel (and recording one). and do nothing following the restoration of power and see if it records the next scheduled program OK. I know its a basic check that all PVR manufactures should perfom but it seems Humax don't and do not appear to think this is an issue as they don't seem to respond to any queries concerning the HDR's inability to recover following a power cut. |

Then I guess it wont help then that the Goodmans doesnt have a scheduled timers screen. All the timers are listed in an amonst the recordings in the library.
I'll ask Harvard if they will be listening to feature requests/suggestions for software updates. If so I'll recommend a sort option in the library at the least, to help in this area. |

1. Standby (not recording).
2. Viewing a live channel (not recording). Just discovered you can record from buffer by rewinding back to start of film then press record at that stage you can go back to live view .

What the poster wants to know is if the stb recovers by itself from a power cut. Set a recording to take place in about 30 min time. Then turn off the power to the stb for about 5 mins. Now turn on the power to the box and do nothing else. Does the recording take place as scheduled ?

Very handy and a feature which I have used on other PVR's a few times where I have returned and realised that an interesting program is on and the start of it is in the live buffer and I have been able to record it in its entirety for watching later. Another plus over the Humax - getting very tempted to jump ship and sell it.
Yes thats it Graham. I still can't believe Humax made such an oversight - I would be ashamed to release a PVR with a bug like that. I think I am going to buy the Grundig (prefer its looks) and then sell the Humax Foxsat. GG |

Richard I sorted this out on my hdr with a programmeable remote control that has a timer function. If I am away I simple send an on and off command seperated by 5 mins late at night and early morning every day.

How reliably does this work? I sometimes have to press the on button twice to get the HDR to come out of standby and other times I only have to press it once. Surely a double press confuses it if the first press switches it on?

100% success. I made the change after buying a Harmony remote and using GC's excellent idea although it did seem to work fine on test using just a power toggle
