She's doing OK so far, her comments are a bit vague - but her marking is pretty much spot on.

Marking has been good so far, but i was thinking she was going to give Jade a slightly high number

I am liking Bruno and Alesha combo lol

Yeah! I'm loving her as a judge and I was quite nervous about it. I feel she has been great and added warmth that the show really missed last year.

I disagree, I think she's been rubbish so far.

I have to admit that I wasn't too sure about it

But

She has marked pretty fairly
strictlyfloss

Well that's not difficult, she's only got to listen to the comments of the others and then mark accordingly! You could train a monkey to do that

I hope I don't sound like a smartass when I say this and I really hope I don't offend you, but I am quite sure this is an APPRECIATION thread...

LOL no I'm not offended at all! I'll go away and leave you all to it!

I think shes coping well. Its completely new to her so shes bound to be a bit nervous initially. At least shes not going OTT with her marks.

Honestly I didn't mean it in a rude way.

There are at least three threads full of people who will appreciate your contribution more than us.

Thank you Lennie for starting this thread. Having only just come on the board tonight I am horrified at the reaction to Alesha on here and was going to start an AT!

I thought Alesha did just fine for her first show.

She was asked to comment on performance and use her insight of what celebs were going through to give them feedback.

That's exactly what she did (although she did make a couple of 'technical' remarks about things like shoulders being too high and lines).

Her marking wasn't bad and she didn't make any cock ups.

Is she to be criticised for saying what she sees?

I think she will fit in just fine and no doubt she will always have her critics, but then again so do the other three judges.

I liked how she noticed things esp her comment on Ali's leg kick which was so graceful

*clings to Buddy*

You know what I'm going to say

She did a fine job. Importantly she scored fairly (better than Len and Craig!) and her presence has changed the atmosphere on the judging panel. It was much more relaxed and less antagonistic.

I'll keep her instead of Arlene anyway!

(Actually, I think there's been a right lot of miserable moaners on here tonight but that's a whole different discussion).

Thanks for starting this Appreciation Thread Lennie

I thought she did a great job tonight, she must have been incredibly nervous but you didn't see that at all and to watch her smile and hear her laugh put a whole different dynamic into the show and judging panel.

Not to go all "real life" in an entertainment forum but Alesha has a very admirable outlook on life.....she does not want to be left with any regrets or "what if's" if she is lucky enough to get to middle or old age......plenty of people are left with regrets about what they didn't do when they are too old to do anything about it.

I greatly respect anyone who follows their heart and does something they know will go against the masses and will bring them a lot of flak.........she absolutely loves SCD and some of the people associated with it and she must have felt this was an opportunity she could not turn down.......well,she could have turned it down and been left with a lifetime of regrets.

It's better to feel the fear and do it anyway than never have done it at all

Got to say her double act with Bruno cracked me up tonight

I loved her and Bruno together

No worries about the thread being open, Alesha needed one

I thought her marks were fair and if her comments were a bit vague I thought that was very diplomatic because she must have read the papers and "been told" that she can't judge on the technicalities of the dance since she's not been professionally trained.

She was very encouraging to all and (though she has to be careful not to over use it) she DOES have personal experience in how the contestants are feeling.

I would also like to agree with whoever said that the panel felt more relaxed (or at least the right half [for the viewer ]) did.

I do and I know! What woodwork have they all crawled out of??? I've never heard of many of the people posting tonight.

Thats true she knows how the celebs are feeling but i also have to say she must know some techicalities as she did them each week and must of picked them up with Matthew whilst he was teaching her, and got some inside info on how its done and where the leg/foot should and the arms and heads - she's done all the dances so i guess she knows more then us and the main public who are moaning at her

I'm feeling a need for a big thread stating 'where did all the morons come from?!'

I have never read such a vast array of idiotic comments on here in one night.

And I survived Sergeant-gate.

(Yes, that should be a t-shirt).

I really do need to go to bed before the epic number of morons and misery-guts make my head explode.

It's just bloody annoying to see half the threads whinging and complaining after what I thought was a damn good start to the series.

I don't understand why they're all moaning. She's only been judging for one show, she hasn't had a chance to do or say anything yet!
Fairygirl

I honestly thought it was a really wonderful show from the TOTALLY amazing pro dance to the sometimes un-intentionally funny celeb group dance

I'm a "fan" of Alesha's but i'm also of an age that i don't just blindly follow someone......i'm drawn to people that have a very fair outlook and who also have a very positive affect on other people and i find she has both, she also has a very admirable attitude to life and her energy and personality is infectious in a very positive way.
There is enough angst and negativity in the real world to last a lifetime so give the girl a chance.......... i know some people won't but then that's "real life" for you.

Sandra Fortuna Brian fortunas mother said in her blog after watching SCD tonight.
"As far as aligning with one of the judges, Alesha is the one I choose I think she hit each mark exactly right” high praise indeed and she should known.
