He was dull, wooden and quite simply awful, followed by Rav not close behind.

Why did producers chose them to open and close the show?

Ali Bastian (and surprise surprise Chris Hollins) easily the best of the bunch.

He reminded me of a younger, better looking version of John Sergeant. Maybe Kristina likes her partners to dance like this. I hope he improves really quickly.

Definitely agree with your comments - I liked Ali and Chris too. I think Joe has been hyped up by the media - he looked really uncomfortable.

I have to say I really liked Rav's performance and I didn't get why he had such low marks and Chris Hollins did so well. Joe was awful. It's such a shame because I love Kristina!

I understand the waltz and tango are very different, but I do think John's opener was much much better then Joe's, I am quite shocked!

I completely agree here.

I was hoping that Chris would do well and he didn't disappoint.

Although Alesha was bland as a judge, she did say correctly that Rav was 'stompy'. Maybe it's nerve (first one out). But he looked messy and very, well, stumpy and stompy.

Hope he does better tomorrow or he'll be in real danger. No one knows him that well (not as well as Joe Calzaghe) and no one knows his pro partner too.

Joe was an anti-climax.

Totally devoid of any personality.

He spent the entire routine shuffling around the floor with a constipated look on his face.

I wasn't shocked but more like bored, almost fell alseep watching him. He was hypnotic-inducing.

He bored me.

The most exciting part was when he accidently pushed her over at the end.

I was too far gone at the end. It was the audience clapping (?) that quite literally woke me up.

He was clearly p*ssed by the comments and scores.

I blame it entirely on Kristina. Don't know what she did with him. He's a fighter for goodness sake, and he should nail tango, at least the performance side of it and she let it slip past him like that. Shame.

I dont think that I would compare Joe to Mark. Mark wasn't very good, but he put everything into the show and training eventhough it didn't pay off. Joe looked like he wasn't even trying tonight.

Personally I think Mark might have done better with a different partner - I didn't like his partnership with Hayley.

As for Joe - I thought for a minute my wooden coffee table had turned up - I love Kristina, he had better improve - surely he must.

He hunched over Kristina while she posed and danced around him. I was disappointed.

I think Kristina had to choreograph him like that because she has to tailor moves to what he is capable of .........and he obviously isn't capable of anything much.

He looked very wooden, unhappy and no sense of rhythm at all. He doesn't have any 'presence' or charisma and I didn't know who the devil he was and I don't think I am going to have to find out. He deserves to be out and fast

Joe reminded me somewhat of Kenny Logan, performance wise, just without the personality.

He was still better than Lynda, mind...

Kristina probably thought "Ah he is better than John Sargent!" and didn't push him hard enough.

Such a BORE I would be very surprised if he did a decent cha-cha tomorroW!

What was all the hype about then?

Perhaps he just 'froze' and couldn't perform at all.

I actually thought the choreography was terribly dull. If she had done that deliberately because he couldn't dance, what was all the hype about then?

We can't have it both ways, unless he managed to pull off the routine in a classy way in training or something.

I'm not convinced about this. It's a bit strange.

Oh god, I've never felt so awful watching a dance on SCD before, most of the ones that aren't good can laugh at themselves, but he seemed mortified. I actually nearly cried for the bloke.

Indeed. Not to mention his horrible posture - stuck his backside out and way too much gaping.
