exciting news about a 2013 calendar from Aliona - cannot wait to see the end result!

Not too many star turns in the Celebs this year.
Kimberley may not do it and Nicky would be unlikely to because of his kids. Lisa maybe and Dani probably.
Denise and Louis might be the star turns, but would Vincent and Flavia be doing their Midnight Tango Tour? Which raises the question - who would Aliona dance with?

If it was Louis, you'd expect it would be the third landslide year in a row for Aliona.
Who else could they get to do the tour that could dance well? It could be difficult to put the cast together this year.”

Lisa, Dani and Michael are already confirmed

I assume Lisa will be dancing with Robin and Michael will be dancing with Natalie

Not sure who Dani will dance with as V&F dont normally do the Strictly Tour but they might this year......

Vincent and Flavia are doing their Tour starting on 30th January 2013, so they would not be on the Strictly Tour.

Good idea for the Aliona 2013 Calendar - I think Aliona's looking better than ever at the moment. I dont think a pinup style would be best - something more along the lines of that rock chick photo and the Rio Carnival photo would be good.
Just dont get anyone who did the original photos for this years Strictly involved.

Thanks for this olive.

Interesting to learn what it was that the producers took out of Johnny's first routine. -- those interactive / character bits. Not quite sure Aliona was entirely fair to characterise it the way she does though -- makes it sound as though Iveta was showboating instead of following instructions / helping out in a crisis.

Some gorgeous pictures there

That was pretty much how I picked up on how Harry became so good in series 9. They were top of the training hours and I remember them saying they didn't take days off. 5 months sounds too long though - maybe 4 calendar months.
Harry had great timing, fitness and balance, but you could see from his latin that he wasn't a natural. But he was a very hard worker and Aliona said she didn't have to be hard on him because he was so hard on himself. He started off learning slowly and IMO that was because his brain and body weren't used to learning anything like dancing.

Aliona sounds like she had seen potential in Johnny if he could stay in long enough to get enough training. I'm impressed that he could train 8 hours and still have energy left.

Iveta is a very good dancer and I can understand her thinking that the more dancing you do the better. We will never know what would have happened if Aliona hadn't got injured, but I'm even sorrier now that that didn't happen given how hopeful Aliona was about Johnny's potential. Some of the rest of the celebs haven't progressed much but most of those have now gone, but there was maybe a chance Johnny could have earned a few weeks more.

I really wish there were more weeks before eliminations started. I know 14 contestants is a lot and it makes a long long show but you'd start to see development in some of those people we lose too soon with the show as it stands.

I've said the same quite a few times.
i remember Aliona saying on BBC interview one time that there are very few 'naturals' but many people can be taught to dance successfully.
For someone who has never done anything like it before though, 3 weeks is too short a time when they may be up against people who have trained in dance over a number of years.

Louis shows that if you have trained in something involving your body moving precisely in 3 dimensions - that make it a lot easier to quickly train you to dance, because your mind and body already know the process and have a lot of complex co-ordination movements already stored.

At last the Aliona drought will be over on Saturday!

I cringed a little too when I read the comments she made re: Iveta and the choreography. I've never had the pleasure of meeting Aliona but from all her interviews etc she comes across as a complete sweetheart (albeit strict in the training room!!) so I don't believe she meant those comments harshly towards Iveta....but I was waiting on the main forum for one of the apparent many "aliona bashers" to see this article and lay into her. Haven't notice any yet, so maybe she's escaped this time!!!

On a brighter note 3 more days till we see her dance again
Judging by her tweets and how hard they all seem to be working its going to me AMAZING, eeek, little overexcited!!!

I didn't see all of the pro dance at the beginning of the show tonight but it was nice to see Aliona in Tessa's 'house' upstairs with everyone

Thanks for those photos of the article olivej, its interesting to hear a bit more about Aliona's teaching background.

Didn't see much of her dancing at Wembley but main thing is we can look forward to seeing her in the rest of the show.

Can't wait to find out who the celeb is!

With Katya back too, I'm really looking forward to the Xmas special. This series has been a bit of a damp squib for me really.

Yeah I think that too teeswolf - much preferred last year's Strictly and Strictly in 2010 as well - loved it when Aliona was paired up with Harry Judd and Matt Baker respectively.

So did I. Just not been the same this year.

Have you been rooting for Nicky this year?

Yeah but have been a bit off and on with rooting for him this year and like you said it isn't the same this year - to be honest it is a bit of a dull dud and someone in the show is making the show at times not worth watching - by the way if you're wondering who I'm on about teeswolf - it is DVO who I can't stand this year.
