Whats that got to do with what I posted.
All I said was I think that the average person on the street would be more familiar with Joe than Martina.

This is a mess.

I thought she was good. Much more dynamic in the Dance off... I thought the whole contest was rigged and the head honchos at the Beeb would want their most famous recruitment to get far...

If she was the biggest name there, and a ratings winner, Martina would have generated more votes.

Maybe you've over-rated her appeal?

I'm not bothered whether the celebrities have had an illustrious career. I'm more interested in their dancing and Rav was ever so slightly better when it mattered.

It was the right decision.

Internationally speaking, I'd agree with you, Martina Hingis is the biggest name in the show this year. But in terms of a local TV audience probably not.

To be fair, I thought she was pretty ordinary, and though probably quite a bit better than Rav overall, he clearly did put in a better performance in the dance-off than he had in the show, while at best Martina stayed where she was. Still a bad result, though.

Joe's one of the great British boxers of recent times, won Sports Personality of the Year less than two years ago and only retired about six months ago, as undefeated world champ. Hingis is Swiss, won her last Grand Slam over ten years ago and - relatively speaking - has done nothing in the last seven years apart from retire a couple of times and get banned for drug use.

Hardly that outrageous to suggest Joe's more famous or 'known' in this country.
