I did laugh at Brucies 2012 gag!

It probably is futile criticising Bruce.
He is too arrogant to consider that he is too old for the job now and the producers clearly love him to bits.
Also, the BBC never care what the viewers think despite protests of the contrary.

Yeah get rid of him and when you are all watching someone like Duncan 'frum blu' presenting it don't blame anyone but yourselves.

Do you know what? Much as I'd happily murder Duncan from Blue, there are times when I think anything would be better than Bruce...

How about Nick Knowles?
He is on everything else on BBC.
Or that other Beeb favourite John Barrowman.?

Ugh, Nick Knowles. No thank you! He really is "thick as"

But I'd take most of the other suggestions - and yes that DOES include Duncan James!

His jokes are awful. He is credited as one of the writers so he is partly to blame.

I'm guessing no-one on the production team is brave enough to point out that the jokes are unfunny and can be often offensive.

Actually, I thought they were better this year.

Just me, then?

Just you, I think.

I will throw my salad at my laptop (I watch SCD and ITT from iplayer now) if Bruce does that 'note to self' scribble again this week!

Bet Bruce says something along the lines of the following after Phil Tufnell has danced-:

"Will the cricket star get stumped/ go out for a duck? "

Take your pick

Well he's MY favourite anyway....

Brucie IS a part of the whole SCD show. Unless he retires or resigns, I can cope with him, I actually like him, and let's not get age-ist about this... AGAIN! But for sure Anton is surely a MUST as his replacement! He'd be just perfect!!! Or is he too old already? hmmmmm...

For me, he's the worst part of the show.
Hats off to Tess for doing a sterling job.

This isn't an ageist thing, it's about an individual's ability to do a job, and in my opinion, Bruce hasn't been up to the job for the last three series.

I'm sure there's a programme somewhere that would benefit from Bruce's special brand of presenting (fumble, repeat, humiliate guest, refer to his age etc) but live, primetime Saturday night really isn't the place.

There's nothing ageist about it at all. Tess is about half Bruce's age, and is equally awful at her job... Get rid of 'em both, I say!

Agreed, ageism is very annoying, but so is the phenomenon of the infallible "TV legend"...

He had me in hysterics a few times last weekend...

"Next up is Ali Bastian... (Did I just swear?)..."
To Bruno: "How lovely, you made yourself laugh..."

Both off the cuff remarks which I think mean he's still got it....

Maybe. All I know is, I thought he was rubbish last year, and he seems OK this year.

Not brilliant, but OK.

I don't have an agenda, that's just my opinion.

You have hit the nail on the head. Brucie's off the cuff remarks are sharp, funny and sometimes edgy. Something that most of the primetime (safe/boring) presenters sadly lack.

Of course the scripted joke aren't the greatest but they would be exactly the same no matter who the presenter was. After all, they are only fillers to give the audience a breather between dances. In fact, like all true entertainers, Bruce makes the most of even the poorest jokes.

As for all this 'rudeness' people speak of, well good on you Brucie. I'm sick to the teeth of nicey nicey (fake) personalities on our screens. Give em hell, you've earned the right to.

He actually was not all that bad on the Friday show.
He did miss a cue and the jokes were still cack but he was not dreadful.
Dreadful he was not!

Its his appalling jokes and digs at people some of which are quite rude.

I cant stand the man he turns strictly off for me sadly.

I think there are lots of other really good presenters out there who could do just as good a job.

Perhaps its not Brucies fault but the script writers.

ENOUGH OF JOKES arrrrgh they are awful.

I'm afraid Bruce ruins it for me. He is well past his sell-by date and I was astounded to learn he will be paid half a million pounds for Strictly this year AFTER a pay cut!

Should the Beeb being paying that sort of money to a man simply because he was "good" 30 years ago? It's a bit like saying General Soandso was wonderful in the Second World War - he won all his battles. Now he's in his 90s and a bit doddery but we'll let him run the campaign in Afghanistan because he USED TO BE GOOD

If Bruce's terrible unfunnies were cut out, the programme would not last so long and perhaps we could all concentrate on the dancing and the judge' comments!

In the past on these boards there was always huge support for Bruce.
This year I am noticing that there are less favourable comments for him.
Perhaps the writing is on the wall....

I'm not really watching this year. I have watched avidly, some might say fanatically, every series since the show started but I have had enough of it now and mostly because I just cannot take Bruce Forsyth anymore. I'm just disgusted that they have not yet got the message and encouraged him to bow out gracefully. The Alesha element has further weakened the format and it's no longer really watchable for me

Didn't listen to a word he said last night. As soon as he appears I reach for the mute button.

It's not necessarily an age thing. He just isn't funny and then 'waits' for people to laugh when he isn't. That drives me mad!
