You're kidding me!! It's an ersatz version of DWTS this year! TBH, for the first few weeks anyway, it's a nice restful change from the screaming and infighting of the previous two years.
I thought for the first week they were a little bit harsh and expected too much, especially as they had to learn two dances each. On the other hand, I think Craig was being generally fairly nice (for him!!)
Not at all. I think the comments and scores have been fair- can't expect better until later on in the show. Craig was spot on, some of the others were a little too generous in their scoring we thought.
Nope, I thought they were all pretty much spot on.
If they start too high, where do they go when the contestants improve?

I don't know if you were aware, but Rav had some very glaring technical issues. He performed it well but was penalised for technique (and an illegal lift in his tango).
I thought in general they were being pretty lenient, to reflect the fact it was the first week. I began to wonder if Craig was stoned, he was being so nice!
Marking inflation irritates me. I hate it when people are getting 30 and above in the first couple of weeks. Soon enough there will be 9s and 10s flying all over the place.
I agree with the person who said they were unfairly harsh with Rav's scoring on both nights. He was far superior to the godawful Lynda yet I believe he scored lower than her for both dances.
And there was no way he was only a couple of points better than Joe for the first dance.

Totally agree. Lynda was dreadful. I love the woman but she's hopeless.
If anything, all the marks were too high. And the differential between the mediocre (Rav for eg) and the frankly dreadful (sorry Lynda) was pathetic. The comments seemed appropriately supportive and constructive (apart form Alesha!) for the first week.
Thay have at least STARTED using the lower numbers on the paddles. Last year it seemed as if Len gave at least 9 to everyone!
It does make more sense starting each week in the middle area - it gives them room to increase for a better couple and decrease for someone worse - like Joe!
The comments seemed fairly normal - acerbic from Craig, grumpy from Len, insane from Bruno, and Middle-of-the-road from Alesha.

But looking at the scores for first dances, the highest one has always been around 30.
Series 1 - 29
Series 2 - 31
Series 3 - 35
Series 4 - 33
Series 5 - 33
Series 6 - 33
So this week the marks, with a relatively lowly 30, were in fact rather more contained. We'll see what happens in show 2 though...
