It's not you.

Has been widely reported by others including Sky HD owners.

many thanks, I keep stressing how good HD is and the other half is not impressed!! I thought by showing Strictly I would win the battle but the poor sound scuppered me. !!
Glad its not my doing. Back to the footie for me.

Strictly's not the best showcase as I'm told it also contains a lot of SD hence the soft picture on the interviews and gym scenes.

Showing something like Lost Land of the Volcano is probably more likely to convince her.

The again you could always resort to In the Night Garden!

thanks all I have read all about it on other forums and complained to BBC. I cant understand why a major broadcaster would broadcast such bad quality!

Is it only noticeable if played via a surround system?

Same here - awful sound through TV speakers via HDMI connection.

It may have been reported elsewhere but there was also significant sound drop-out on the Last Night of the Proms on BBC HD last Saturday (seemed to be on the Albert Hall OB, the regions were OK).

Yes the Strictly sound was bad, just through my TV speakers - many glitches. although not as bad a Alesha Dixon's judging ability!!!!!!! We usually fast forward through the dross and I noticed quite a lot of pixelation as it went. I haven't noticed this in other progs before, although I probably use the 60 secs forward and 15 secs back buttons on most occasions.

I played back some "Later with Jools" last night - highlights recorded a week or two back. I played the stereo output from the TV (TV on mute) through the AV input of my Cyrus Hifi amp. Both picture and sound were fantastic - so they can do it.

I haven't been watching Come Dancing, but do get occasional sound drop-outs for a second or two on various channels.
The drop-outs seem to happen on any channel, not only HD.

I have Sky+ HD and connect to TV via HDMI (as you would expect).

If I use live pause to rewind and play, the sound has been recorded.

Also, the sound is not interrupted on the RF out connection - How do I know - Listen to both TVs at the same time - you can hear the second one when the primary goes silent.

As this seems to be common, is it really acceptable. I think it's just a processing issue and could potentially be worse depending on the channel and protocol ude. Difficult to recreat and therefore recognise and fix the root cause. Sky don't seem to be interesed, but it can be annoying (I missed Thierry Henry say he handled the ball).
