Pete, what do you mean 'us oldies' I have been 25 for so many years it's too late to start changing things now. I think you must have been about before I came whimpering in here at crisis point, but how lovely for you to be in less pain, must make the world seem a different place. Five months through a 2 year sentence =- that's almost a quarter done! You might not be able to pick up your grandchild (yet!) but you can still have the joy of getting to know her and seeing her respond to your smiles.

Purdy & Angel, the bunny hunt has not gone well. I tried a Marks n Sparks bubbly bunny, very nice, and another caramel one to make sure they were still good quality, but the elusive malteser rabbit is nowhere to be found. I shall try Morrisons for one of the little blighters tomorrow.

Quick wave & a 'hi' to Beth, hope all is well with you.

Purdy, I seem to remember you having your kitchen done, a job I need to see to sometime How did you find someone reliable to do the job (assuming they were reliable). Might seem off topic, but with the ex off with his floozie I am having to work out how to do all sorts of things I never needed to know before. Please can that count as a mini crisis?

love
Polly xx
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Sorry, for laughing so much but that is just so funny. !!!!!

The kitchen has now been an ongoing obstacle for 8 months. It still isn't done.

What has been done, has been done by OH. Who shouldn't be doing such things due to his own health problems. As a consequence a job that should maybe take a couple of days maximum can take the best part of 4 weeks.

Wall painting has been finished months ago... in fact it is now ready to be painted again. Still waiting for woodwork to be done. But first the skirting boards need to actually be fitted, and the new window surround.
Also waitiing for new kickplates and all the boxing in of the pipework that had to be removed when the new boiler was installed.

Have a beautiful tiled floor though. That took over a month. Lay a couple of tiles, become so exhausted that nothing more can be done for 3/4 days and then start again. It becomes a very long drawn out process.

And as for the new ceiling and the lighting - well that was just a nightmare. (finally finished last weekend and looks great though)

And during all this... the dishwasher packed up, the tumble dryer packed up, the oven packed up, the microwave packed up, the kettle packed up .

Ever felt you were living in a permanent bulding site? Ever wondered will it all ever end? Ever asked why are men so bloomin' stubborn and think that the world will end if they cannot do their little bit of DIY? Do I often feel like screaming? .... you can bet I do
I'm sure Angel can give you some insider info on what it's been like 'cos she's seen most of it.

Still, is it any wonder I laughed so much at your asking me about my kitchen.

So I'm very sorry Polly, but unfortunately I cannot offer any sound or reliable advice re the kitchen as I don't have any.

On a good note, I woke yesterday morning and didn't feel sick for the first time in ages. Managed two small coffees during the morning, then lunch. Still ok. Managed to do a little bit in my tiny backyard garden including having a play with the pressure washer during the afternoon. That was fun.

Unfortunately the sickness feeling crept back during the afternoon and hasn't gone away since. I wish the hospital would hurry up and get me in for my liver scan. The top right side of my tum is so tender constantly and just touching the area can set me heaving. Its not painful as such, just feels tender and swollen and whole tum is constantly bloated. Had my gastroscopy couple of weeks ago and all I know from that is I don't have any ulcers. Consultant will re send for me when he also has the results of the liver scan which were requested on 30th December. So its just a case of waiting.

Anyway, sorry for the whinge and good luck with the bunny hunting. I reckon you should get 2 when you find them. One for each of us,. But you can eat mine 'cos I can't.

Oh Purdy, I'm gald I gave you a good laugh, we all need those once in a while, but it seems I may have asked the wrong person On the other hand, you seem to have plenty of useful experience, maybe you and your OH are ready to take on outside projects??????? I have a kitchen that needs a makeover, you have newly acquired skills.........

As for Angel thinking I was asking you about my kitten, I just wonder what other untold skills you have

If I track down the bunnies, I shall be buying a good supply, funny thing is I was never even tempted to try them before. Some people round here are a very bad influence, and I am very grateful for that

Us oldies Hmmm. I convinced my older grand daughter I was 25 when she was 5. I will stick with you being 25. I should have said us longer standing members.

I try and look upon my recovery in time chunks. At the moment I am having a relapse.I have been trying to contact my specialist spinal nurse for some advice. She covers several hospital so is elusive. Erratic recovery after my operation. is par for the course.

Unfortunately, there is a 30% chance that I may need a second (Smaller) operation. The surgeon told me he will wait a year before deciding what to do. If it happens my lower spine will be fused to part of mu pelvis, cutting my mobility down.

I did lift the little Grand Daughter yesterday. Naughty boy. The older 3 are too big. however , daughter no2 is expecting again in May.

Quickly popping in to say I finally tracked down a maltesers rabbit in WilKinsons - and ate it on my way to Weightwatchers

Beth, congrats on getting B for psychology, well done you, all the hard work paid off.

Purdy, hope you are managing to eat a bit more and feeling at least a bit better.

Pete, glad to hear you are 25 again, I just think sticking with one age is brand loyalty Good for you picking up your grand daughter, might not be wise but bet it felt good. Another one in May - congratulations and I hope by then you will be able to pick the new one up without thinking about it.

((Sal)) hope things are better for you hun, you haven't posted but you've been in my thoughts.

Hi to everyone else, and if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can find a nice honest workman for my kitchen I'd be really grateful, love Polly xx

Hey everyone

Sorry not been on, been out of it for the past couple of days with a weird agonising headache thing. Tuns out my trapeze (no idea how to spell it) muscule has been badly, badly tensed up with stress. Its the muscule that runs either side of your spine from the bottom right up to your neck and into your head. hence the amazingly painful headache. Went to get a sports massage tonight and I feel AMAZING!!!!!! I have to get another one enxt week and then I'll be fixed. Wooooooooooo

Amazing how bad you can feel from one part of your body!

Back in a mo to catch up

Hi Lorry... I agree with you

I hear lots of weddingy things at the moment anyway, cos my youngest son is getting married on July 4th.

And.... I have been looking at lots of wedding dresses as well recently with a very good friend and I know that angelic pink is going to be major colour in her designs

And Sooty yes... the NHS is a bloomin nuisance down here in UK. I don't know if it is any better up where you are/work.

They can juggle numbers and the 18 weeks target has restarted from the referall for the liver scan being made so I should get it done by 5th May. I don't even know what it involves but I hope its not as bad as the gastroscopy was.

Don't worry Sooty, growing up is not compulsory, some of us have been opting out of that for years

Yes please to the wedding details, last I remember you posted a pic of the dream dress when you first started looking. Did you get that one?

Congrats Purdy on being 'mother of the groom', do you have a new outfit with an impressive hat?

Hope everyones aches and pains are getting easier,

I am seriously considering cheating here.

I bought a very expensive (Windsmoor) 'mother of the groom' outfit complete with very impressive hat in 2004 for my eldest sons wedding. Both have been worn only once. The skirt and jacket suit is vacuum packed and put away and the hat was carefully wrapped and still lives in its hat box. As they are classic and none dating styles I am seriously considering getting a second use of both.

I know that my son and DIL to be won't give a monkeys what I choose to wear so I reckon with a new blouse and some new accessories I can give them a new lease of life and get a bit more use out of them.

Oh, and I am 21+VAT.

Anyone had any good tips for your kitchen yet?

Ooh Purdy I didn’t know your son was getting married, a lovely summer wedding! Hopefully your tummy problem will be all sorted by then. Accessorising up your outfit sounds like a great idea. My mum couldn’t find anything in traditional mother of the bride shops so she’s ended up getting her dress made for her!! Its lovely!

Polly yeah I feel like I should grow up soon but its just not happening for me!! Lol My neighbour just caught me prancing about in my bright pink tartan pjs, bridal shoes and tiara!!!!!

How is everyone today?

I had 2 bunnies today ooops

Wow! How beautiful! I especially love the shoes, though how you're going to walk in those is beyond me! The bridesmaid dress is gorgeous too and complements your lovely dress perfectly.

I can't wait to see the wedding pics!

Sooty, that all looks so gorgeous, and if there was an envious smiley I would do a whole row of them just looking at the shoes. They are stunning, I love Faith shoes - if only I could still wear them without falling over. Practising in your pjs & tiara sounds very sensible to me, obviously you can't practice in the dress for fear of dribbling bunny all down it.

Purdy, you are the only hope I have for this kitchen - does that tell you what dire straights I am in The ex never let me do anything, and now I feel helpless at the task ahead. I have managed to learn to decorate & garden, but kitchen fitting is a step too far. Nobody I know has had similar work done, so not a chance of personal recommendation. Will keep asking around, someone is bound to know someone.

Better get to bed now before I am tempted to raid the Easter eggs I have stashed for the kids, chocolate cravings are a terrible thing,

Polly, going off your location "where hurricanes hardly happen" I assume you reside in one of the three "H's"

Having used my therefore, (to my mind), logical reasoning and my penchant for putting lists in either alphabetic or chronological order, I googled 'recommend a builder in Hampshire'

I got this site - My Builder - and thought it may be worth a look. There is a search location dropdown anyway so as I am probably incorrect with location you can change it easily.

You say what job you want doing, wait for quotes to come in and then read all the feedback before making any choice based on price and feedback or declining them as the case may be.

You can also see some sample job feedbacks on the site and also some site feedback as well.

May just be worth a go.

Cinders, those shoes are to die for and your dress is beautiful. Are you having a veil as well or just the tiara. And are you going with pure white or ivory (yes, I'm nosey but we need these details)

I wish I was getting married again. I loved all the planning for my wedding day. My shoes were almost invisible they were that delicate and I spent a good few weeks before hand tripping round the house in them to get used to them before the big day.
And I had a big girly night in to do all the makeup trials and hair trials and making sure tiara would sit right. Absolutely loved it all. And it wasn't even 5 years ago

Will be waiting in anticipation for some more weddingy details.

Afternoon folks,

I'm feeling really down and fed up today, so am I allowed to share our wedding plans too???? Trying to cheer myself up so thought this would help! Just home from shopping and found THE most gorgeous flowergirl dress ever!

Colourscheme: Fuschia and ivory

Venue:
http://www.classicbritishhotels.com/...waterton-park/

Not chosen a dress yet, but will definitely be ivory and I'm thinking of having fuschia on it!

Photographer:
http://www.markgibbinsphoto.com/

Bridesmaid dresses:
Not chosen yet but they will be fuschia and full length. Would like some diamantes or something on them

Flowergirl dresses:
http://www.bhs.co.uk/mall/productpag.../655062/228596

Cake:
Will be 3 tiers (separated not stacked). Bottom tier will have bridesmaids sat on each side (real life looking sugarpaste models), middle tier will have Best Man and Flowergirls sat on, and top tier will have me and groom stoof on One tier fruit, one chocolate and one plain sponge.

Flowers:
Shocking pink gerberas for me and ivory gerberas for bridesmaids

Think that's about it for now!

Sooty, have you chosen your cake? What flowers are you having?

Well i suppose I should give a bit of an update on how I am and what's been happening.

Still having the same problems with my back as I have been for the past 3 yrs. Must admit that *touch wood* the last 3 wks haven't been too bad. I've seen a chiropractor but didn't seem to be getting anywhere so I'm now back at the pain clinic. I'm currently on the waiting list to have an epidural. The consultant says my problem is nerve damage and an epidural relaxes nerves so she's hoping that after the epidural, my nerves will stay in that relaxed and non-sensitive state...not necessarily going to work but prepared to try! Hoping the appointment will be roughly end of April.

Still having the same problems depression wise. Although things aren't as bad now we are living in our own place but I'm still on the same tablets and still have really bad days. Family problems haven't changed and to be honest, don't see that they ever will! My sister is pregnant and due in September, worst news could have had given all that our family went through with her before xmas but it's her choice. Feel awful saying I'm not excited about being an auntie again but I'm really not as I can see what will happen.

I'm job hunting again at the minute the job I started in June last yr was only temporary for 1 yr so due to finish mid June. I've applied for 4 so far. Got a telephone interview for one of them tomorrow and hoping to hear from one of the others in particular tomorrow or Tuesday. GOT to have a job to go to otherwise we are buggered! so please keep your fingers crossed for me

Not been well these last few weeks. Had really bad constipation, not been to the loo for almost 3wks so that's really been getting me down. Had the most awful stomach ache from it and ended up having to have a few days off work from it Hoping I'm nearing the end of it now though!

The only thing that's keeping me going right now is wedding planning (although it's 2yrs away!) and I'm enjoying looking and researching, become a bit addicted to wedding sites and roped my dear friend purdy in too

Hope everyone else is doing as well as they can be. Worried about dors and sally ((((hugs))))) xxxxxxxxxxxx

Owly, sorry to hear you're not feeling too good. Let's hope your tummy gets better soon as I know how painful constipation can be!

Good luck with your job hunting. Are things picking up generally with vacancies these days? Hopefully this time you'll find a permanent job so you can settle down and stop worrying about contracts coming to an end.

OMG that little flower girl dress is exquisite! The cake sounds fabulous too! I hope you'll update us as and when you choose your dress and other bits and pieces! How exciting - 3 weddings to look forward to what with you, Sooty and Purdy's son! I haven't had all that palaver with my daughters - one got married very quietly abroad, and the other one is happy with her partner but isn't interested in the tying the knot thing. I feel quite deprived!

Well I've been busy getting the B&B ready for "the season" which starts this coming Easter weekend. After 4 years of service just about everything needed decorating or replacing this year, and it's been hard work and expensive getting everything sorted out, but we're nearly there I think. We've put our prices up this year which I hope will mean we're a bit quieter than usual and that we don't get burned out physically and mentally by July. At least I'm not depressed at the moment, so I feel quite positive and ready for business.

Sally - you've gone quiet and I hope that doesn't mean you're feeling too bad to post. Perhaps you could come on and tell us about your pair of furry feline babies? And do you still have guinea pigs?

Thanks for that lorry. Thought I'd come on and update you....I had the phone interview at 4.30pm, it lasted 6 mins. At 4.45pm I got a call back to say I'd passed the phone interview and they want me to go in on Wednesday for a role play exercise and a face-to-face interview the role is to start on 14th April so only 2wks today!

I'm feeling quite proud of myself! First job I applied for and passed phone interview and now got through to next stage! Good job I went out and bought a new 'interview' blouse on Saturday!!!!

I'm glad to hear you sounding quite good. I know we talked about this last year, but I think it would be great if a few of us could get together to come up and visit you...I wonder if it would be at all possible? Made me chuckle how you said you hope bookings decrease with you putting prices up I had to read what you put about 3 times

No jobs out there at all at the minute which is why I hope I get this job, even though it's not particularly what I want!

Better get on and cook tea xxxxxx

Hi.
I've been wanting to post for a few days, but just don't seem to have time.
I'm not sure what I really want to say or how I'm really feeling.
I know this post will not make sense, but just needed to write something.
Will try and write something that makes sense soon.

Hope we are all as well as we can be.
I'm so glad this thread has been revived, even if my posting makes no sense.
