4OD problem
qwertyjjjj
20-09-2009
Hi
I have been connecting to some sites to watch online TV through a proxy (yes, I already pay the TV licence but I need this because I'm in France every now and then).
It has been working fine for ages but for some reason 4oD has stopped working. iPlayer still works fine. Any ideas what 4od have done with their website version that might cause this?

I am told that a VPN might solve the problem but I'm interested as to the technicals that would stop the online player from working. I mean, it's on a website so the request must be an HTTP request isn't it, therefore a proxy should work?

It is quite possible to block proxie servers.

Perhaps you should stop trying to view programmes illegally. Problem solved.

It's possible if they know they IP address but that's not the issue here. 4OD have changed something in their player version that means it won't play yet things like iPlayer and others continue playing. Just intereste din what they've changed as a lot of viewers seem to be having problems with 4OD's new web technology.

Through my VPN I have quite a few connection choices, some are listed with P, such as P4566, some are listed as IS-04550. If I use the ones with P I could never connect to 4oD. After using the IS- ones, I had no problems.
