How is it rubbish when that's actually how it is?

Videos on every digital camera are simply shots taken by the camera in sequence. If that camera cannot take enough shots per second for whatever reason then the video comes out looking rubbish.

The developer of cycorder found the limit of the camera on the iphone to be 15fps max, and that's in perfect lighting where the shutter isn't open for as long. In reality it's more like <10 fps. It looks pretty awful. That's a hardware thing and only to do with the tiny sensor, megapixels means nothing in regards to video recording capability.

I'm not bothered about Video Camera AT ALL.

Could someone help me with another question?

Is the difference in 3G and 3GS opening the SMS app very significant?

I send about 3000+ texts a month and I'm always opening the SMS app. It takes a good few seconds to load and allow me to type. Sometimes the keypad freezes (and I continue to touch type) with the keyboard catching up after about 5 seconds.

Does this happen on 3GS? Are there any direct comparison videos out there? I can't find any on YouTube.

Well I have the iPhone 3G 16GB and my dad has just got the iPhone 3GS 32GB and there is a big difference in speed. Both phones are jailbroken and there is often about 50MB free RAM on the 3G and about 150MB or more free RAM on the 3GS.

Like many have pointed out, the 3GS features a compass, an improved function also in Google Maps where the orientation of the map depends on what direction you are facing. The compass feature works in that application.

I've not had a look at the Voice Control facility, not sure it is of interest to me anyway.

It does have a better camera, features a video recorder, particularly useful if you want to upload videos to YouTube. The quality is ok.

The facebook application is on both phones, great for uploading photo's.

I've not really looked at the video recording application of the 3GS though looks easy to use.

There are about three reasons that I might want a 3GS, one is because emulators run considerably faster, vlc4iphone allows me to watch a good stream of live football without the RAM being an issue or phone slowing down and iMobileCinema application that allows streaming of flash videos through safari is far better on the 3GS.

Apart from those things, the 3G is fine for me. Again, the thing with the emulators, well I am not a big gamer anyway, it is more for testing purposes and seeing how technology progresses.

Back to non-jailbroken apps, well I would say that there is not a huge difference in speed in many of those applications such as SMS, facebook, weather etc. I can watch live TV through Orb Live on iPhone 3G just as well as it can be done on the 3GS for example.
