Skunk Anansie back in 1999. It will forever stick in my mind because I was on the barrier with one of my best friends who weighs in at about 220 pounds. When they played The Skank Heads (anyone familiar with the song knows how unbelievable the drumming is) we both went completely mental and my friend was air drumming so hard he elbowed me in the head about 5 times during the song almost knocking me out in the process, Mark Richardson was drumming so hard that his China Crash boom-stand kept tipping over, touching the floor and springing back into position for the next stroke. At the end of the song I remember him climbing up on a an amp stack and flexing the hugest biceps I ever saw. Concussion and all it's my absolute fondest gig memory.

Its so hard to choose I go to about 1 gig a month

Rammstein at Glasgow SECC in both 2002 and 2005 were amazing I've never seen shows anything like it.

Logan at Glasgow Garage december 08 one of the best atmospheres ever at a gig

and I have to mention Take That at Hampden this year what a show its gonna take a lot for them to top that

Freddie Mercury Tribute concert back in 1992

Robbie Williams at Knebworth - worth the 4 hour wait to get out of the car park at the end!

I guess some of the very best shows areif you're lucky to catch a band at the top of their game in a small venue, so for me it would be Pulp at the Alabamahalle in Munich in 1996.

For stadium gigs, Robbie Williams shows are hard to top (minus the Jonathan Wilkes parts)

Probably Brian Wilson performing SMiLE at the Royal Festival Hall in 2004.
I was row 4, center.
Paul McCartney was on the end of row 6.
George Martin was back around row 12-ish.
I met Macca in the interval.
Then Brian Wilson performed SMiLE, and my brain melted.

Close runner-ups are David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007, the last night of the run (which wasn't filmed, but we did see 3/4 of Floyd when Nick Mason came out for the encores), and the first night of the Cream re-union in 2005, also at the Royal Albert Hall.

For me, it has to be the Eagles in 2006.

I have loved them since I was a little girl, my mum and step dad used to play them a lot when I was growing up, and they kind of stuck with me through my adult life.

My boyfriend bought tickets when he found out they were going to be playing Dublin, we drove over 100 miles to get there.

The show was fantastic, given their ages, it was flawless and I loved every bit of it. it was the first concert my partner had been to, and him being there with me made the experience complete.

will never forget it.

The Roots in manchester 08.

Black Thought is an incredible MC, he pretty much spat non-stop for well over 2 hours. They all play their own instruments, no decks, and yeah, just a brilliant gig.

There's nobody in hiphop that does better live shows.

This year loved The Killers and Coldplay. I was also at Earls Court for Pink Floyd and Hyde Park for REM, both brilliant. But a major highlight has to be the Joe Strummer firefighters benefit concert at Acton Town Hall, his last one before he died. And when Mick Jones joined him on stage it was one of those magical moments.

purple-hearts, I saw The Eagles at Wembley a few years ago and to hear the entire crowd singing 'Desperado' still sends a chill down my spine

I've been a fan of The Eagles my whole life and to see them live was wonderful. So many great songs

I saw Kelly Clarkson at the nec in 2006 & she was pretty good live

But without a doubt the best person i have seen live is Pink Seriously she is absolutely amazing live, she puts on such an amazing show & if you ever get a chance to see her live you totally should, even if your not a huge fan of hers, because once you see her live your opinion will change I've seen her 3 times now, once in 2006 & twice this year & i only wish i could of seen her more because shes just amazing live

The best big gig I've been too was the first of the Oasis supergigs at Wembley- four brilliant bands in one day! Rev was excellent, The Enemy won me over completely over the course of their set, Kasabian were absolutely outstanding- anyone would have been forgiven for thinking they were the main event they were that good- worked the crowd up a treat! But when Oasis came on I totally lost it- I jumped up onto my feet and didnt sit down again all night! They were even better than I had hoped they would be- I sang along to every song, dancing and cheering. Oasis were the band of my childhood, the band that helped me few the first few weeks of uni, and I couldnt believe that I was finally seeing them live- it was overwelming. One of the best days of my life.

The best smaller gig I've seen was Pete Doherty at the UEA- he was funny, charming, coherent and very engaging, a far cry from the usual portrayal one usually encounters in the press. He was exceptional from the first song to the last, chatted to the crowd, then proceeded to stay on stage for an extra half hour, making us laugh with some hilarious antics and singing even more wonderful songs. He was on the stage on his own, just him and his guitar, and he had the audience in the palm of his hand for 2 and a half hours. Its been six months since I saw him but i still smile when I think about it- it was an incredible experience, and a priviledge to see the very talented and human man behind the press myth.

Three days ago, I probably would have said Elbow. However, on Monday night, I witnessed The Veils live. Their frontman, Finn Andrews, is the most captivating performer I've ever seen - anguished, chaotic and beautiful... one moment tender and fragile, with visible tears rolling down his cheeks (this being in the first song of the set) and the next moment wailing to the heavens like a torn-up madman before throwing himself into battle with his guitar, making the instrument roar and scream like a tortured animal.

They're not playing in London again for a while apparently, but when they eventually do I recommend that everyone who appreciates sophistication and bite in their music to go see them. I know I certainly will

Mmmm best was the Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 reunion concert at madison square garden in 2001. Awesome concert as the first time they had been back together in twenty years. I guess thats the last concert he played before he died also now thinking about it!! It was great to see artists like destinys child, Justin Timerlake, Usher etc also.

On the flip side to this a small concert by Bush at Cambridge corn exchange. Another weseome concert, especially when they played swallowed!!

Prince.

Pick from 1988, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 or 2009.

Each one a winner in their own way, but for the sheer spectacle, 1988's Lovesexy extravaganza.
