I'm thinking of get one of these, and would like opinions from past/present owners of them.

I was toying between the Tocco Lite (I'll assume that's the Tocco you're refering to as it's of similar value) and the 5800 recently, and ended up going for the 5800, mainly because of the built-in GPS, Symbian OS (and therefore plenty of apps for it), and the camera has a flash (although the camera isn't brilliant, so the Tocco Lite probably beats it on that front anyway.) I was also pleasently surprised when I received it to discover I'd got the Comes With Music version, so it came with two years of unlimited downloads from the Nokia music store, which is worth a lot.

That said, most of the reviews I've seen for the Tocco lite have been very positive, and you could argue it's a slightly nicer looking phone with possibly a nicer interface (just going from the pics online - I haven't had a chance to play with one).

So in summary I'd say it depends what features are most important to you.

I'd say the Nokia 5800 is the better choice, especially if you send loads of texts. It's so much easier to compose a text on the 5800 than it is on the Tocco. Having the use of a stylus is a definite benefit.

The 5800 also has wi-fi built in which the Tocco does not which is handy for those Starbucks moments.

Only borrowed a friend's who had already set it up but I think it just offers you connection to any wi-fi hotspots it finds when you fire it up.
