Fallon is in a different studio to the old 'Late Night w/Letterman & O'Brien' studio. He is now in the old WNBC4 news studio (6B) whereas Dave and Conan's Late Night used to come from next door (6A) |

Fallon comes from 6B, which does have a bit of television history though, it was home of The Tonight Show before it moved to LA many, many years ago. |

An interesting little piece of history:
http://youtu.be/xqS8piirvTE A New York special of Noel's House Party from the 1990s filmed at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in the same studio as the Late Show. I'd be interested how they converted this for Noel's House Party considering the Late Show would have been on-air at the time (this aired in 1997 and the Late Show debuted in 1993). They must have had a week of reruns and took down the whole Late Show set and replaced it with the temporary NHP set. An interesting watch nonetheless. |

I don't think the Late Show set was taken down. It looks more like Noel's NY House Party set was put up in front of it.
The only bits of the usual Late Show set, that look to have been removed were Dave's desk, the guest chairs and the podium they're usually placed on. A fake NY backdrop was placed behind the fake window were the desk usually is. |

The talk shows episode of The Story Of Light Entertainment from a few years ago is being repeated on BBC Four tonight.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00792sp Well worth a watch - lots of archive footage of Letterman, Leno, etc. If you can't catch it live, watch it on iPlayer!
