Calls from Vodafone about free handset
jalfrezi

Anyone getting persistent calls from Vodafone asking if they've had a 'free' handset delivered yet? I keep telling them 'No I havn't' and I don't want one anyway but they seem to have trouble understanding this. My mobile phone technology is simple - a cheap Samsung C300 with a Vodafone PAYG SIM - and I'm happy with that arrrangement.

I told them when they phoned about 10 days ago that I wasn't interested and eventually had to hang up as the woman, from a foreign call centre, kept asking me for my address. Same story today - I'm not a rude person but I had to be blunt and say "No thanks I don't want one" and hung up, only for the damn phone to ring again 20 seconds later. I didn't bother answering this time.

Are you sure it's from Vodafone? I got several calls from someone claiming to be from Vodafone telling me I'd won some Vodafone competition, something Vodafone knew nothing about.

I'd have to agree with Jim - it's probably some dodgy company who say they're calling "On behalf of Vodafone" (translation: "we have no authorisation from Vodafone whatsoever, but would like to sign you up to a contract").

In fact you guys are probably right as I'm sure the lady today said something like "on behalf of Vodafone" so it could just be a scam. Bottom line is nothing is free (the free phones probably don't even exist) and I'm sure if I'd carried on the conversation with her it would have become apparent that signing up to a costly contract was the main purpose of the call.

Hi jalfrezi

This is never a pleasant experience.

Your description of what's happening when they call you also concerns me.

If you send me an email from our Contact Us form with your details and a link to this thread along with WRT135 in the subject line (so it routes straight to my team) I'll get this investigated.

Thanks
