You made a thread about her saying something last week you see and now this one. I have to say I don't see the point, you know what the reaction will be, just a load of slanging. This does not add to what this board should be about which is "music". All the "he said she said shit" should be in the showbiz forum.”

This, as they say.

No you can't. It's obvious his commercial stuff is just that because as a young black artist it's difficult to sell records without taking a popularist, safe route. But go back to his Underground, Tings In Boots, Mainstream Money and RSMD days you'll see a witty lyricist with a unrivalled flow. Unfortunately there are sacrifices that most artists, especially black ones, have to make to appear 'acceptable' to the masses. It's a business and it's Hard To Earn so You. Must. Leeeeaaaarn.

The same photographers and styling team. It was like they took Patrick Wolf and put it into a girl.

... except without the good music.”

I'm no lover of La Roux (the person) but there is one potential flaw in Patrick Wolf's argument. How long was the investment going into him and was it ever likely to meet a return?

I wish she'd keep her mouth shut. She speaks as though her music is the best thing to grace the industry for ages - it's not.

there isn't a La Roux (the person), it's a band.

Well, they're a synth-pop duo I understand. But the public face of the project is basically her.

agree with her.. but doesn't change the fact that the words "pot, kettle" spring to mind”

My initial thought before I opened this thread was this.

Also, about the Patrick Wolf debate; I think Patrick Wolf came up with some pretty amazing stuff, whereas La Roux have yet to do this. Their music is definitely catchy, but nothing groundbreaking. The first time I saw Elly Jackson, I honestly thought that it was Patrick Wolf before the closeup, so I can see what he means when he says his 'style' has been duplicated.

then call her elly.

that's like calling that awful girl who fronts the ting-tings "ting-tings", because the other guy doesn't say much. appropriately, that's not her name.

I can't stand Elly Jackson and her smug androgynous face.

La Roux are one of those bands some people only like because NME magazine tells them to.

I have to say i think La Roux is absolutely rubbish.

But i completely agree with her on this one.

Tinchy Strider is a complete embarrasement. He will be a nobody in 2 years time.

I see in the same article she critisized Pixie Lott, again she was spot on.

this comment about tinchy has been taken out of context - she did a big interview to the guardian that has been disected and parts of it misconstrued. she was just basically saying certain things are overrated and compared george michael writing careless whisper at 17 to the stuff tinchy does at the same age.

dont forget her new single I'm Not Your Toy is out this week - hopefully this time next weeks she'll be numbero uno.

In the same interview she also called Take That "Gaylords" There's nothing wrong with criticism if it's constructive, but that just makes her sound about 5.

To say the girl has absolutley no clue is a complete understatement.

From the interview:
Now she's not ashamed to say that she'd like to be a globally popular, multimillion-selling star. "I'd like it to be a worldwide thing," she says as the train pulls into London. "It would be great to sit there at 40 and go, '****, I sold 10m records!' But it's not just about money; it's about creating something that loads of people want to buy

More and more she's coming across as a too cool for school moron, who's more concerned with credibility, than actual achievements. Instead of giving them credit, all she can do is brand a group who have achieved her ultimate goal "gaylords". She seems to be stuck in the mindset that music has to be black or white.

She's just a bag of useless contradictions, and unwanted opinions. The sooner she disappears, the better.
