Phone Unlock Problem

I had my Samsung SGH-900i unlocked today by a local reputable chap. Have just got it home, and although it is unlocked to Orange and O2, it does not like my"3" sim card. Whilst I can go back to the shop next week, does anyone know why my "3" sim will not work please?

Sorry, but I've had trouble finding your model of Handset.

Is it a i900 or D 900i?

If it's the latter, it doesn't appear to be 3G, so you'll struggle with it on 3.

If its the i900 (Omnia), there shouldn't be any problems. Just make sure that 3G data is enabled in the settings or that might be what the problem is.

Hi Mr Cable thanks you for your reply. It appears to be the D900i, does this mean I will not be able to use it with my 3 sim? Thank you in advance

Afraid not. Without going into too much detail, 3 will block any 2G-only handset they find to be trying to access their service (it might take a while on occasion but they'll get it eventually as it's clearly against their terms & conditions).
