Ok ive had a few drinks so sorry if im gonna ramble a bit.basicly ive applied the last 3 years to go for the x factor.im from ireland and im 20 and music is my passion.Even tho i applied i never went out because im too scared.i dont wanna spend all the money to go out and then be told no and go home..and with all the producer rounds to get thro before you actually see the real judges the chances are lots of good people wont even see the judges.i also went for the irsh version of x factor a couple years ago and i didnt get past the producers there and their was only about 100 people actually auditioning.i got like 10 seconds and i had barely started my song and i was cut so that knocked my confidence quite a bit..but anyways heres a vid of me doing let it be...plz be honest and let me know what you think.is it worth me to actually bite the bullet and go to england and apply (ctually do it this time) for the x factor.anywyas sorry for the long post.im a tad tipsy.going out shortly....

If music really was your passion, you'd find some other way to get into it other than The X Factor.

Entertainment it may be (although that's debatable).
Music it is not..............

You could, or you could do it the more traditional way, or use newer methods to get yourself known.

Setup a Myspace and Facebook page where fans could keep in touch and hear your music.
Setup your own website to publicise yourself.
Arrange small live shows in local pubs and clubs to get yourself known locally.

If you do make it you will know you have done it through your own hard work and dedication and will have much more respect from fans than the X Factor route.

However, if you believe you can win or at least get to the final rounds of X Factor, go for it too but don't let the fact you might not get through, and have to put up with Simon's nasty comments, put you off.

Listened to your singing. Stick to your day job.

It certainly fits the X Factor 'style', if not quite what the Beatles had in mind.

I agree with posts 2 and 3.

If you do want to go on X Factor though, make sure you've got a sob story. If your life is absolutely perfect and you don't have a care in the world, don't bother. You'd not even get through the door.

Most local newspapers have a what's on section (I presume Ireland is the same as the UK in that respect, i'd be very susprised if it wasn't). They generally have reviews of local groups and artist gigs so when you are playing in a small music venue, give the local rag a call and they might send someone along. If you are lucky you may get some free publicity via the local press, which can help by building your profile. If you have a website make sure the local paper mentions it and prints the web address. Get some leaflets with your web address on it and have the venue give them out at the door too.
