It is ridiculous to call all those who don't like Alesha as a judge 'Alesha haters' when the majority of those who voted that they thought her being a judge was a bad idea are fans of hers.

No I haven't. Sadly the Y chromosome I was born with precludes my ever joining a girlband. Can you please explain what that has to do with anything.

I am a fan of Alesha, I like her alot, but as a judge on SCD? NO.

I'm one who wants a judge to be someone professionally involved with the competition rules. The 'man (or woman) in the street' opinion is given very well by the public votes thank you very much.

Well considering she is the new girl and probably finding her feet I'd say she going OK. Think because she doesn't do all the overacting of the others she doesn't seem to notice so much.

But even this weekend I noticed she had some constructive comments and (I think a good thing) accepts that its new to the contestants so doesn't 'lay into them' like some of the others.

You go girl. Like some of the contestants its nice to see the journey sometimes.

Nothing, have you ever seen Alesha in Desperate Housewives??

I went for the last option.

Am not a fan, thought she was over rated while in it, her Latin sometimes was awful and I wanted a Gethin/Kelly final which is why I don't regard Series5 with the same fondness that many do. BUT....

She's doing OK. She doesn't deserve all the repetitive flak which is getting boring now and spoiling what is really a rather enjoyable series for me. After reading Arlene's scores and comments for the first two weeks I think I'll be sticking with Alesha for the duration. Good heavens. Thought I'd never say that. You go Alesha baby.

She's there purely to make the panel more 'voter friendly.' I think after last year when it was a total Them and Us situation something needed to be done though whether it works we'll only find out over the next 12 weeks.

But if I was asked who I'd prefer INSTEAD of Alesha or Arlene, then Karen would win hands down.

I wonder if it was Bruce who suggested Alesha for the judges' 'job'. I think he's definitely got a soft spot for her.

We saw how ludicrous the situation was on Sat. You had two experts in Latin and Ballroom, Camilla and Karen with life long experience in dance sitting in the audience, while a singer with approx 4 month learning to dance was sitting as a judge.

I'm sure no one would object if either had been chosen as a judge. What a farce their claim is of no ageism in the BBC. Could you imagine them replacing a 30yr expert with a 60yr old with a few months training.

You summed up how I feel.

She's doing a ok job. Her marking has been on the whole about right, some of her comments have left me wondering what she's talking about but she improved loads this week comment wise. I never did like her dancing much and don't like her personally but I don't think she deserves to have so much thrown at her. After all she's never kept it a secret how much she loves the show so being offered any type of job on it she'd have taken it.

I am in no way a Alesha hater or a fan of Arlene. I don't really want Alesha as a judge but at the same time I am able to get over the fact she is. At the moment she's doing ok.

I can't really find a category to register my vote in this poll. I'm not an Alesha fan, but I like her personality (in small-sh doses) and really enjoyed her performances when she was competing. And I thought it was a bad idea at the time to make Alesha a judge, but now that she is, she seems to be doing a reasonable job. Certainly I can't say I'm really missing Arlene at this stage. In any case, nothing that I've seen from Alesha this series would merit the vitriol that's been spewed in her direction from some quarters.

The public has to judge the dancers when they vote, Alesha is more qualified than most of us, so this much ado about and nothing is a load of kaka

Edit: obviously I am a fan of Alesha's but if she was cr*p I'd say so.

But that's just the point. The public have half the vote, the experts the other half, and she ain't no expert.

I might be biased in the fact that Arlene gave Chris a 5 (5!) but even so I can't get my knickers in a twist over a bloody entertainment show. I made up my mind after the Hammer Horror of the quarters of last year that I'd never be bovvered by it again. It needed lightening up. I'm the most obsessive rabid fan there is but some things were very seriously out of kilter and Arlene didn't help herself or the show last year although I AM miffed that she was given the push in that way for somebody younger as it really is bad media management and they should have known how it would be perceived. Though it's actually to the Beeb's credit that they haven't sought to rubbish Arlene saying 'well, she had to go because she was causing so much bad feeling in interviews etc' as they could have done.

I would have loved Karen to be there. She would have brought the requisite glamour, she doesn't have the ties to any of the pro dancers that would have made it awkward and she wouldn't have been as abrasive as Arlene sometimes could have been. But look, we have the girl now until December so lets all give it a rest until the post mortems then. She's doing all right. I actually don't NEED the judges to tell me what was good and what was bad anyway or indeed what moved me. After 6 years I can sort of work it out for myself.

Have stopped watching due to complete Xfactor obsession...
Am keeping up with all the news on the SCD threads.

I watched the first two shows and the Friday show of week 2 and thought she was improving with every one.

So, I think a tick from me. When I go back to watching properly when a few more dancers have gone, I will be very interested to see how she has come on...or not, but I think in a few weeks a lot of people who don't like her currently may have come around.

Will be interesting to see...

Keep me informed fellow FM's....

The whole panel has changed with the new judge and the changed seating arrangements. Having been a die hard fan since the start it has lost its sparkle for me and I will not be bothered if I miss it this year.

Everyone deserves a chance to find their feet. If I started in a new job, one I had never undertaken before, I an bound to make mistakes. I would hate it if the whole office were writing me off! I could be less likely to do that job properly because of the bitching?

I'm hoping Aleisha finds her niche next week. Good luck to her.

Do you think thats why I am wondering what all the fuss is about?
First time viewer this year, due to recommendation, but whilst I have enjoyed the dancing somewhat, it seems to me to have been highly overrated as a show....
I mean, just my opinion, but its why, as I said in my previous post, I have stopped watching for the moment.

Do you think if I had come to it earlier I would have been more likely to get hooked?
