She becomes the fifth judge from the quarter finals onwards so you've got to be patient for a couple of months.

(Why do Iget the feeling this will become an anti Alesha thread?)

I suppose not everyone would necessarily know, but when she retired from ballet she did a show with Katherine Jenkins called Viva La Diva. The DVD is out now.

She has also launched a series of books with Harper Collins for 5-8 year olds and is about to also launch her own dance wear collection online. Oh, and she also has a husband and two young daughters to look after - and is still in demand for PAs and modelling.

im not sure i am being understood
i am not saying she isn't busy as in she has an empty life i mean why is she not on the panel already
if she is able to attend the show she is free if she is free why isn't she on the panel yet..
does this make sense?

I think you arfe being understood but I think what sofa was trying to say is that Darcy is too busy in real life to be a full time judge.

It's actually over two months before she joins the show and I doubt she will be free every Saturday night between now and then.

I'm curious as to how much technical knowledge of classical ballroom and Latin American dances a professional ballerina will have. I should have thought about as much as Jeremy Guscott on the intricacies of the front row of a rugby scrum. Can anyone with a suitable dance background please enlighten me?

I was thinking the same thing as was surprised to see her again this week. As others have mentioned I can only assume that she won't be available again until she does become a judge

That had occurred to me as well - she is no more "qualified" than Alesha as far as I'm aware when it comes to ballroom and latin but of course as she has achieved the very highest level in one form of dance I imagine that will be irrelevant to a lot of people.

That said, is Arlene a ballroom/latin expert? No, her backgroud is jazz and musical theatre! Same goes for Bruno and Craig. The only one who is "truly" qualified would be Len.

Len's the only one with formal ballroom judge qualifications, but why should that be all that counts?

I adore Darcey - as a ballerina! Regrettably I don't think she will have technical knowledge of bb & Lat whatsoever.

She sort of proved this last week on It Takes Two when she commented that someone had "Really "Boring" music for their tango (can't actually remember who it was, but it's irrelevant anyway). The point is, that the "Really Boring" music was the only true tango played on the show for wk 1....... Wonder how she would like someone to suggest Swan Lake (ab.fab. ballet) is danced to boring music?

I think you are missing something. The judges don't just turn up on the night and judge. They have other commitents to the show durung the week whether it is meetings, preparation, appearing on "It Takes Two" or other things.

Darcey may have other commitments at present which stop her from fully performing the function of a judge.

It is absolute total rubbish. I love Darcey as a ballet dancer but she should not be coming on the panel. Ballet is a completely different dance form.

I mean they have a Ballroom and Latin expert Karen Hardy sitting in the audience for the past two weeks and you have Bruce fawning over Darcey as if she was the expert. How come he never spent a min saying a few words to Karen.
