I have the nokia 5800 and i dropped it (on a carpet beleve it or not) and the screen smashed.

I do not have insurance, but i was wondering, if i took out an insurance plan for he phone can i claim straight away?

I have had the phone for 4 months so I have been told i can still claim as i havn't had it longer than 6 months

Thanks

Most insurance policies won't allow you to claim in first 21 days.

If your on voda go to store will cost about 40 quid to get it fixed.

i'm with t-mobile (excellent service)

i have been told it will cost me aound £40 - £60, will this be the better option, altho i do want to take out an insurance plan for the future.

If i get insurance and i get faults n the future, will the repair be free?

No, the excess on most mobile phone insurance is usually £25 to £50. But other than that, yes, 'free'.

Er.. No. No insurance will ever cover anything that has already happened. Think about it.. Do you think you'd be able to take out insurance cover on your house after it's burnt down?

Faults are covered by the 2-year Nokia guarantee. But what you've done is damage the phone, this isn't covered by the guarantee and screen damage isn't covered under many insurace policies. You would need to make sure you took out accidental damage insurance that covers things like screen damage, water damage etc.

Be careful. That's called insurance fraud and these companies always have ways of catching you out.

Actually Orange Care (Insurance) does. You can call CS and see if you eligible for Emergency Care and for a fee of £30 you can make a claim, but you have to have Insurance for the remainder of your contract.

£60 now I'm afraid, and the insurance has to stay on for a minimum of four months.

Ah not working front line CS I don't stay upto date on all matters, so cheers mate!

But I still think it's a very good deal, especially as it's only for four months as well. Thats the minimum term Insurance has to be on for as standard if you take it out anyway.
