Her VT also put me off her a bit...to be fair to her though I think she wants to do well possibly more than anyone in the competition because she is such a huge fan.

I think the public generally don't like anybody who appears to be too 'cocky' or arrogant - look at Gemma Bissix in the ice skating last series - she was so full of herself and ended up getting voted out very early on which I think was partly because people didn't take to her attitude.

Yes it is!

I'm a very good judge of character, trust me. I don’t think its arrogance, but rather confidence of the bigger girl saying to her critics (those who assume larger people can’t dance) watch me prove you wrong.

But unfortunately Natalie is failing miserably, because her faster number was embarrassing and don’t get me started on the facial expressions she was making.

Shame, I thought she would be better. But I hear the J word in Natalie's strictly experience.

Rather the public don't like any female celebrity that shows a hint of these qualities (and I'm not convinced Natalie has - all she said was she was hoping for slightly higher marks!).

I hear you, I think this year a lot of celebrities are guilty of that.

Although Natalie has had a rough ride in the press and on the forum - I do agree with most of the posts on this thread. She does have a very positive attitude and is obviously loving the whole experience but I actually went off her big time when she was whining about not getting the points she thought were due to her. The impression she gave last night is that she is a cocky little madam and absolutely full of herself and we all know that pride comes before a fall.

She's full of enthusiasm and determination. And it could have been so easy for her to feel self-conscious after all the press attention her weight has received. But she doesn't seem to give two hoots and I applaud her attitude.

I don't blame her for being a little cheesed off with her Tango scores. I thought she deserved a couple of 7s as well.”

I feel the same. Natalie has grown on me and I believe has proved herself worthy of respect.

I can see where you are coming from, she didn't seem very happy with her marks but I don't think it's her being cocky.

But I could be wrong, let's see how she handles herself in the coming weeks. We are here to analyse.

It appears to appeal to the public there are so many do and donts

Don`t come across as arrogant.
Don`t sniffle all the time.
Don`t be smug
" " giggly
" " desperate
" " over confident

etc etc etc

Someone should make a thread of the do and don`ts

It's the Chris Parker factor. Never liked the woman, took an instant dislike to her as soon as I saw her on 'enders. Don't know why, but still can't stand her - perhaps she's a reptilian alien or a terminator...

I didn't think I'd take to Natalie, but I really like her and it never crossed my mind that she was arrogant.

In fact, I think she's got a great attitude towards the show as she's focused, but not making comments about the other celebs in a competitive way as others have.

I hope she does well.

I rather like Nathalie. She was in the audience to support Louisa Lytton a couple of years ago and I didn't particularly like her then, but now we are getting to 'know' her she comes over as a very nice girl with just the right amount of attitude.

She'll learn too that a lot of the audience don't like people who seem too ambitious and needs to keep her killer desire to succeed hidden behind a innocent/cheeky/lovable/smiley/humble exterior ”

The marks aren't supposed to be for effort.

I hope she doesn't turn out to be another Coleen Nolan, forever going on about how she's trying as if that means she should only be praised and never criticised or be given low marks.

Let's see what she says and does if she loses weight through her dance training.

The last time her looks changed in that direction, she brought out a workout DVD, Natalie Cassidy's Then And Now Workout.

It's a fine line they have to walk

I like her but she thinks she is a better dancer than she is, she needs to listen and learn.

Maybe Vincent has told her how wonderful she is to boost her confidence and now she believes it?

To succeed in the cut throat world of the entertainment industry (and to a large extent in the world of sport as well) you have to have confidence in your own abilities otherwise you would end up in that huge percentage in the profession that are resting or working in bars - to stand out enough to get to the top you have to usually have talent but even if you don't, self confidence is an essential.

The ones who come over as humble are either a) good actors or b) not really entertainers (like Jo Wood who you can see immediately just doesn't have that air of knowing she is brilliant plus a hard skin that entertainers have to develop to survive).

To then have a programme which is made up of celebrities doing something out of their comfort zone but still a performance and then slate them for being confident (aka arrogant) seems slightly bizarre to be honest.
