Something of a mystery surrounding an LG 42LF7700 LCD TV and 2 Humax 9200Ts
Have recently purchased an LG 42LF7700 and all seemed to work just fine. However, over a week or so we noticed that playing back on AVI from a 9200T the screen blanked for about one second and then returned, and then did the same after about two seconds.
We initially thought this was a recording fault and thought nothing of it. After repetitions of the same we started to look more closely. The first time we timed the events it first happened after 14mins, and then after 1hr 16mins of playback. Other playbacks showed different times, or did not happen at all. When we replayed the same recording (parts) it was not replicated. There was no previous experience of the Humax 9200 behaving this way on our previous TV, so one is tempted to presume the new TV is at fault. We thought to experiment by playing back other inputs. No problem found.
The next step was to replace the Humax 9200T with it's older predecessor, also a Humax 9200T, and record and play back some programs on that. On playback it did indeed produce the two blanks at two second intervals. Our conclusion here was quite reasonably that two different 9200Ts are exceeding unlikely to exhibit that same fault, given thay had both worked well on previous televisions.
During all of this we had after about a week an instance of us watching live FreeView TV BBC2, and when we went to change channel to BBC1 by pressing the '1' button. Nothing happened so we tried 'P V'. Nothing happened so we resorted to changing input, to no avail. The set seemed to have completely locked up on Freeview BBC2. Our solution to this was to swith the TV off, and back on. All worked.
Are we talking about something peculiar to us or has anybody else had something(s) similar?
