Aren't trousers a wonderful invention.
Far better than skirts.
How did we ever manage before?

I think trousers are more practical when doing cartwheels or riding a horse.

My mum still wears skirts most days, she does own a a pair of trousers but she hardly ever wears them. I live and die in mine.

I wear jeans - are they classed as trousers or just as jeans? I wear cords too but I think they are probably classed as trousers not sure, I don't wear linen trousers or polyester or anything like that though.

I'm not a skirt kinda gal.

Jeans are my favourite trousers too.
So versatile.
It's Wrangler for me.
Mind you , I had to buy a purse cos my loose change was wearing out my pockets.
Nothing's perfect I guess .

Yes, wonderful

Apart from the more backward countries, where females still have blood whipped from their backs, for the 'crime' of wearing them

I can't buy Wrangler jeans or Levi or any of the ones I really like cause my legs are so small I have to cut the bottoms off and then they look mad so I have to buy petite ones and even then they are too long. One of my wee gripes in life.

Might be justified for some kinds of sweat pants.

The trousers were invented by the Iranians believe it or not.

I wish there were more skirt type things that it was acceptable for men to wear. I like the idea of in summer just being able to wrap something around and head off all loose like.
All we have at the moment is the kilt which is a bit formal or the sarong which never really caught on. Trousers are great but I wish it was more acceptable for us guys to wear skirts without it being a big deal. Trousers must be a realatively recent thing so men must have worn something like a skirt for ages. Bring back the toga.

I've always wanted to know why they're called 'pair of trousers' or even the need for the s at the end as they're not technically plural?

P.S You're not allowed to come up with "because there are two legs" as we have two arms and don't describe t-shirts/jumpers etc as being a 'pair of jumpers'.

There is a guy who must be in his late 50s early 60s who works for the same organisation as me but a different department. He has a full, bushy grey beard and wears a shirt and tie and suit jacket with a calf length tweed skirt.

I have three "mens" skirts - one a wrap-round camaflauge effort, and two leather jobbies (one above-knee, one below knee). No-one thinks it's cross-dressing, just male fashion that' slightly different.
Some parts of the world (Sri Lanka, Fiji) you may go a week and not see a bloke in trousers/shorts. It only takes a week for a fashion to catch on.....

I'm the same - I nearly always wear jeans but I sometimes wear skirts in the summer.

I always class jeans as a sub-group of trousers.

I love trousers.

Howard H, is that a Utilikilt you're talking about? Can you get them in the UK?

They are not described as being "ultilikilt" but I know what you mean.
Try google and see if there are any UK manufacturers, I bet if there are they are waaay too expensive.

One tip for guys wearing skirts is to masculine them up a bit by wearing a large belt - leather with buckles sort of thing. Probably means adding your own belt loops, and maybe a couple of pockets for cash/keys etc, but it can be easily done.

Best male skirts (knicked from women) I reckon are combat, leather or denim, worn with strong boots/shoes. No dresses, no floral patterns
