... or the lack thereof.

Apparently, according to the Daily Turd, viewers are OUTRAGED because of it.

So now Brendan has told everyone to back off Alesha, they're going to try this as a new means of attacking the show?

The Daily Heil really is clueless ...

Karen Hardy was asked about this on Breakfast this morning - she said that where the dance comes from, those are exactly the type of dresses that are worn, she saw little wrong with them (even though she felt that she's too old to wear that sort of thing now).

The funny thing was that as soon as they held up the page from the newspaper, I knew immediately that it would be the Daily Mail.

Apparently there is fury about it. I'm working on it, but have only whipped my self up to about the righteous indignation level so far. I'll have to try harder...

If you can stomach reading the online version of the Daily Turd (link provided in Greytop's thread), you'll see some familar comments made by 'viewers from a fansite', which to me when I read those comments here in DS, was meant to be strictly tongue in cheek. There we go again, lazy journalism at it's worst, they cherry pick and spin it out of recognition, almost tantemount to claiming it's the worst that happened to humankind since Communism.

shock ! Horror ! Dancers wearing short dresses , what ever next ?
This whole Daily Mail campaign is really boring me now, next it will be the make up, then the hair, then the colour of the lighting, when will it end ? xmas i suppose when the series finishes. The grab so much info off these sites and present it as fact..... wonder if they will ever pick up the fact that posters are getting fed up with the daily mail and print that....... doubt it somehow

From my own point of view, I think the dresses, generally, have been getting worse since series 5, with a few notable exceptions. I just assumed that it was me being out of touch with the modern fashion

Don't buy the DM or any of the tabloids for these sorts of reasons. Although there is usually a Sun lying around in the rest room which I browse sometimes

You'll need to add a tablespoon of disgust and then mix well ....

I think they will target at Joe and Kristina now. Also they may try to beat the dead horse about Ricky W apparently taking a couple of Salsa lessons with Darren's twin brother, Dale Benett's studio, and then write about how other contestants are crying 'UNFAIR!'.

Oh Strictly how can you admit someone with previous dancing skills into the show?

And yet if he proves not to be very popular and in the dance off a few times, the 'old classic' racism card will be dragged out no doubt. It's a no win situation for him really. Whatever sells papers.

Well, I don't read that paper, and although I don't like some of the dresses, I wouldn't go so far as to say I was disgusted or outraged or any other extreme reaction to a costume! As Karen Hardy said, as long as they have the bodies (and she very specifically said the pro dancers do - but didn't say about the celebs!!!) , why not??

Well, I am a Strictly fanatic and I LOVE the dresses this year - pro and celebs (except the ones Natalie and Ali wore for the group dances).

The tabloids are getting desperate now that Alesha appears to have weathered the storm.

What next?

I like the skimpy dresses this year, its the ones like lampshades I don't like.

If I had the figure and ocasion to wear them I would wear skimpy dresses.

No-one complains about the sprinters/runners wearing very small tops and shorts, and the dancers usually look better.

I proposed they should dance in burqas, but I did not see my comment posted

I haven't even managed that!

Mild indifference is the best I can come up with ...

The daily mail are really starting to bore. Strictly is a fun and popular show why do they hate it so much?

It's a made-up story. By the Daily Mail.

What a shock.

Agree a lot of rubbish, I saw the Daily Mail article, I don't think the dresses have been that bad (Orla's perhaps last week), Katya knickers weren't revealing at all; M&S would have been proud.

I don't have a problem with the latin dresses, although I did think Lilia's was unflattering on Saturday, and she has a wonderful figure. I do hate the ballroom dresses that pretty much consist of a bra top and skirt though. Kristina's on Saturday in the pro dance was a perfect example, I thought it was hideous. I just prefer something a little classier for ballroom.

I've managed to whip myself up into a jealous rage that they all look better in those outfits than i would!

You can only laugh at those complaining about this.

DM used Jade as one of the illustrated pictures and when she is jumping in athletic gear she wears half of the material in her latin outfit.....no make it a quarter!

Their choice of outfits to moan about really were very weak! None came anywhere close to Olas catsuit! (Even then I can't get annoyed, only envious!)
