Incompatability between TV and Digital PVR

I am trying to connect up a Panasonic Viera 32" LCD TV to my new Humax Digital PVR. The PVR will not work unless it is switched on and off each time before use (which eradicates the stored programme details from the EPG). When I managed to get it working and a programme had been recorded, the playback on the television was predominately green. Until the PVR was switched off, the TV still retained the green colouring when trying to watch any channel. I have sent e-mails to Humax, who are not responding and am waiting to hear from Panasonic also. Is there anyone who can throw any suggestions my way, please.

Presumably you are connecting via SCART and in which case I'm sure the two devices are compatible though one of them may be faulty.

I would suggest that you make sure all items such as Viera link are switched off and that any SCART controls etc are on in the PVR. My Panny plasma has the option to automatically go to AV rather than TV if the AV is on I assume yours is similar. Does cycling through the inputs on the TV bring the picture back properly?

Also make sure the SCART lead is fully pressed in as they have a habit of becoming loose.

Duff scart leads not properly seated in the equipment is the most likely cause in my opinion. Models of pvr and tv may help, though (as others may have exactly same equipment setup).

I've never seen this with my 9200T and two different panasonic plasma tvs using scart.

If you're using a 9300T or FoxsatHDR via HDMI, again it may be conection issue (reseat) or a faulty cable. It could also indicate a problem with the HDMI on either piece of kit. Try scart leads in this case to see if it is ok via scart.

Thanks for your advice. I am using the same scart lead connection that I had used previously to connect up a VHS (which all worked perfectly) and to check the new PVR was not faulty I latched up my other Dig PVR (same make and model) and it behaved the same way. I don't have an HDMI lead, but do you think I should get one?

Doesn't matter if the lead worked previously, when you plugged it back in, one of the pins 'may' have pushed back inside the casing - it's a VERY common occurance. Visually examine both ends of the SCART lead, make sure none of the pins are pushed back.

Thank you for that suggestion Nigel, I didn't realise that a problem could occur with a scart lead. I am going to check it out now.
