Baaah

But seriously though, I dont understand how the hell they keep re-entering.. They are the two most played songs of the year.. Who seriously doesnt own them yet?
I hardly ever listen to the radio or watch music channels, I first heard sex on fire around 3 months after it came out, yeah, they defo keep reentering because of the x factor effect, but there are over 60 million folk in the country... so I'm guessing quite a few folk don't own it yet

People say that not liking Sex On Fire is because it was popular. The reason I don't like it is because it's overplayed, annoying and one of those instantly catchy tunes which wears off really quick.

It's XFactor time. Just wait for the live shows when everything sang on there will creep back into the top 100.

I used to absolutely love Kings of Leon, but I just wished the "sex somebody" fans would just disappear. What he hell happened to my band?

yeah, people who have clearly not turned on a radio in the last year, or they would of heard it already. x factor viewers aren't music fans, they just believe whatever Cowell says is good.
I love X Factor and have seen KOL live 5 times going back to their first album.

Yea but if you say that then you get accused of being a music snob. The amount of casual music fans that have come up to me saying
"I really love KOL have you heard of them?" only having heard two songs from the latest album. The thing is that alot of people are jumping on the bandwagon becuase KOL are a band that its "cool" to like if your part of the X Factor crowd. To them an album like "Only By The Night" is groundbreaking but has just that right balance of commercial so that they "get it" This is why I sort of understand when people say that they've sold out but they're still a great band.. I just wish they bring some kind of identity and character back for their next album. Exactly the same thing with Dizzee Rascal.

that's a bit of a stupid thing to say. sounds like you're saying "it's not fair! i've been a KOL fan from the start, how dare other people hear their recent stuff and start liking them as well!"

oh and before you ask - yes, i've always been aware of KOL. never been their biggest fan though personally. but it was inevitable that all this would happen when Sex On Fire got to no.1. and inevitable that purists would bemoan it. but like some people are always keen to point out - why should bands make music just to satisfy the fans? go and complain to the Kings Of Leon if you don't like what they are doing. what are these 'new fans' meant to think? "oh i'd better not become a Kings Of Leon fan because of their new music or i might annoy some of their long-time fans."

only thing i hate is the x factor 'sheep'

It's just sheep buying the song because it was used on X Factor:mad:
Well I hope they are happy in their fields, I don't understand the mad face though, people are obviously liking Kings of Leon and buy these songs thus making them some more money and more popular so don't see why the fuss.
I personally had never heard of Kings of Leon before Sex on fire and heard it in a pub in town, they are not usually my cup of tea but I loved that song when I heard it so bought their CD and am now a huge fan of them, I have heard some of their previous songs which are ok, but for me Sex is on fire is one of my favourite songs from the past few years.

Well I don't listen to Radio 1/local radio I listen to 1xtra and they don't have Kings of Leon on their palylist
Some people are just so arsey about bands they like beoming more popular than they want to cause then they are not cool for liking them so much anymore.
I watch the X factor for entertainment reasons, I don't particuraly like any of the artists that win, but to slay us all saying we aren't music fans is a bit far fetched, I know my music, might not be the same choice as yours but still.

did you read my last post? anyway, x factor might be an entertaining show, but a music show or 'talent competition' it most certainly is not. and i think it's a bit obvious why 1xtra don't play Kings Of Leon...

If it has the word 'sex' in the title it sells more and automatically appeals to lowest common denominator.

Well but that's exactly the problem, people do not like them they like those particular songs , this "sex Somebody" fans are taking a huge percentage of tickets that could be used for people that actually appreciate the band's music, they totally ruined the vibe of concerts, they stay till those songs are played, do not engage at all with the band, they couldn't care less about the old songs, It's not like KOL was an underground band before, and A LOT of people leave when they heard the Hits. Yes, It is awful.

Even KOL didn't thought it's going to be this bad, at first I thought they were just being whinny bastards because they get pissed with the attitudes of the "new" fans, but now I'm starting to see what they mean.

Plus I like X factor, it's a nice entertainment show, but music is the last thing that program creates. If someone needs a program like X factor to be introduced to music, and KOL will profit from it, I despair for the future of the band. One day half their public is going to resembled something out of a Nickelback concert.

They are popular because they are the sound of a band selling out. Not that I've ever been into KoL but I don't think they used to do Coldplay-like 'anthems' like Use Somebody.

Not at all, they are a band who have developed that is all. Their exposure to music was pretty low having grown up the sons of a travelling preacher in Tennessee. Their music has developed as they have developed.

Noth were good about a year ago, now they have just been played to death and I would be happy if I never heard them again, ever.

Thinking harder about it, I can't actually pick a favourite, Cold Desert is probably my favourite because it's just so beautiful, but it's hardly the type of song I could listen to everyday, as it's sad as hell

Saw KOL at Leeds this year, it was probably one of the top 10 nights of my life They are incredible live.
