It's difficult, I love Red Morning Light, Holy Roller Novocaine , Molly's Chambers, Charmer, Wasting Time etc etc.

The only song of KOL i really do not like it's "Use Somebody".

Man... though I have not checked out their latest offering, I'm putting on some Aha Shake... and Youth... to remind myself why I got into this band in the first place!

I've been mulling it over and I've decided: you're wrong. Good discussion point though.

I've mulled it over too and decided you have no argument or proof to back up your statement.

Kings of leon are a great band, they are fantastic live although I agree sex on fire and use somebody are so overplayed I can't stand listening to them I always change the radio when they're played.

'Closer' is a much much better song! Their strongest track imo

And neither do you. It's a moot point.

I don't need any evidence or argument, you are the one making the ridiculous point.

I rarely post in Music because I'm sure I'd get laughed out of here with my taste, but this is an example of what I hate about people obsessive over music. Music snobs! People like what they like, when they like it. It shouldn't matter what it is, because they're not doing any harm. I didn't know about KOL til last year. I haven't got their album and I don't really listen to the radio. But I adore Sex on Fire and Use Somebody.

But I don't claim to be a "fan" of KOL. I bought those tracks a lot later than most people, but it doesn't mean I don't like them as much as other people. And as for being a sheep, no. I hear a song, I like it, I buy it. Whether other people like it or think it is cool or not.

This sort of shit went on with Arctic Monkeys. They themselves even moaned that they'd become mainstream. Well I can't think of a bigger compliment than that of millions of album sales.

People think they're cool for liking bands that have been around for ages, and then when the band gets new fans and reaches new audiences, these people get labelled sheep.

No, it's just people catching on later than you. No crime in that.

I agree with you, it is a far more logical explanation than people buying it because it's cool.

*SIGH* you may want to carefully re-read the first 7 words of your retort.

I don't agree with you, doesn't mean what I'm saying is ridiculous.

Lets rewind, you said:

"People don't just buy songs because they think it's cool"

Now, what I'm saying is:

Neither of us can know the many number of different reasons which make millions of people buy music every day. However, it stands to reason that at some point somebody, somewhere may have bought some music because they think it's cool.

Eg. perhaps they were throwing a party, needed to buy some music for it and wanted to look cool. They thought "what's that band everyone's always talking about who have that song with sex in the title?". A sort of musical keeping-up-with-Joneses if you like. If what you've said is true then that never, ever happens, which I doubt.

Not saying it's necessarily true with KOL or on a large scale, just that I think what you've said isn't always the case. People buy music for an infinite number of reasons.
