All I'm saying she's got the best chance of a 10 in a ballroom dance with Anton.

So many people are so eager to criticise Anton that I can see him being blamed for the lack of success Laila might have, rather than accepting she might have something to do with it too.”

I hear you Buddy but it works both ways. If Anton is to get credit for turning Laila into a wonderful Ballroom dancer because that's the discipline he specialises in, he also needs to take responsibility for her struggles in the Latin because that's the area he's weak in.

She can only be as good as her teacher after all.

Good post.

The only thing is, on this forum, you know Anton will get the blame no matter what. Even if Laila is the one in the wrong.

Cheers

Hopefully people will be objective.

On Saturday I thought both Anton and Laila were to blame for a sub-standard Cha Cha.

He let the partnership down with a poorly choreographed and under-prepared routine and she danced with no conviction or freedom (whether that was due to her not being able to let go in the Latin or because Anton had not prepared her adequately remains to be seen).

I would like to see how their next outing with the Latin goes before forming any solid opinions though.

I agree and if he does need some help he should ask for it.

Sid, I usually respect your opinions but the last statement is logically nonsense. You may be able to teach a skill you do not personally excel in and many pupils far exceed their teacher's achievements in the same discipline. Mozart was a better pianist than his father/teacher by the age of six or seven!

But Mozart was a prodigy! So was Beethoven!

Laila is talented, but not prodigious. She needs some proper basic training on both the ballroom and latin steps. Seems Len's saying Anton had work in many BASIC steps in the cha-cha (bronze standard?) but lacked sparkle. Those basic steps hopefully help Laila later with her Rhumba (argh my skin is crawling already). Let's hope so, though I am NOT looking to the day when Anton does Rhumba with Laila (he hated it himself, which didn't help). Also, I would hate to see Anton doing jive with her. Eww. Still remember the red Santa-suit he wore when jiving with Jan Ravens. *shudders*

"Do you do you do you want to dance with me..."
