Music is just one big blur of the same sound.

Most indie bands sound like other indie bands.

Most pop sounds like the last record they released.

Most R&B sounds like everyone else who sings R&B songs.

Dance is just regurgitated music from the past.

There is a bit lack of originality in popular music, and when someone does come out with something a bit different they end up exhausting it and others copy it.

Most of the music for the bigger commercial acts are written by the same small circle of song writers these days. Even acts that say they write themselves, actually co-write with these people.

I always confuse that excrutiatingly irritating Bulletproof song with Get Sexy. Something about them sounds the same...

Stick to song writers that only write their own stuff instead of the tedder factory actually icnore pop, generic indie and go for good old decent rock and you will be right.

I know exactly what you mean, there are times when I flick onto the music channels on Freeview (for example) and wonder what happened to our once great (in the 80's/90's) music industry.

I blame Simon Cowell and people like him shovelling a steady stream of 'manufactured pop' manure at kids, who are clearly tone deaf judging by the crap that's usually in the Top 10. Ok there are one or two singles/albums which appear that happen to be songs/tracks with some sort of genius, but they seem to be rarities these days.

Thats why I often don't bother tuning into radio stations any more, as it doesn't take that long before I've switched it off again anyway! I really wonder if we're advancing music wise or pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Maybe there are no more original ideas any more!
