An iPhone is VERY simple to use. If you got one, you'd know your way round it by the end of the day.

The iPhone is currently the best phone out there. I don't think people tend to agree with that until they own one. I've seen so many people tell me and other people that they are a load of crap but they later go out and buy one themselves when they see what a great phone it is.

It has a great UI and I have yet to see a better phone with user interface than iPhone. I also know for a fact that I couldn't settle for anything less than an iPhone now. I'd say go out and buy one. I bought mine on PAYG but using my contract SIM. I have to say, it is the best £400 I have ever spent.

In your opinion

i have a htc hero, i much prefer it to the iphone i had & in my opinion is the best phone out there.

for instance i require my calendar to be displayed on my screen, and using android i can do this with a widget, you with the iphone cant.

There is something coming to jailbroken iPhone's soon. It's called SmartScreen. This application will allow for widgets on the lock screen.

This "it can be jailbroken" argument is getting quite irritating.

On one hand your trying to say the iPhone is best on market, then you say but to make it as good as other phones you have to jailbreak and modify it. Do you not see the contradiction.

What iPhone does, it does extremely well. But there are. Other phones on the market that do more, and in my opinion do it better.

The best phone on the market is the one that does what you want of it. Obviously, to any sane person, its a very personal choice. These stupid arguments are as irrelevant as they are trivial.

I don't see why it is irritating - it's simply the truth that by jailbreaking an iPhone you get to do a lot more with it than if you want to just stick with the sandbox that Apple give you. It's not exactly difficult to do for the most part, and despite Apple scaremongering it isn't going to damage your phone - it's simply unlocking the true potential of the iPhone OS (which afterall is just a cut down version of Mac OSX).

What iPhone does, it does extremely well. But there are. Other phones on the market that do more, and in my opinion do it better.
For sure there will be features and functions that other phones do that the iPhone can't (even if it is jailbroken), but "better" is always going to be somewhat subjective, and for many people those features and functions will be of low priority to overall ease of use, which is where the iPhone particularly excels. That's why many people thing the iPhone is the "best in market", despite not having things like camera flash (or flash web page support).

Apple has set a high bar for useability in general, and everyone is currently playing catch up in that respect.

Spot on with those comments there. I forgot to say that it was my opinion that the iPhone is the best phone on the market. I really do think it is, just seems that I have upset someone by saying that.

Whatever phone you go for, you will find that it will have its faults, the iPhone being no different. As you pointed out, the usability of the iPhone is one of the best things about the product. It's not that I find other phones difficult to use or anything like that but it is the simplicity of carrying out the most basic tasks on the iPhone that make it so great and for what features it lacks, the usability counts for a lot more.

Every other manufacturer is playing catchup with usability. Where Apple have got it right is that, they have one product, or well a few generations of iPhone now, but it is essentially one OS so all users are getting the same level of usability of their products.

Nokia may well be the market leaders but I doubt that any of their current top-end of the market phones will outsell the iPhone. Nokia have several phones out at a time, many that are of higher technical specification than the iPhone, though I think one of their mistakes is that every product of theirs seems to differ so much when it comes to user interface.

If they were a bit more like Apple in designing one high end phone, sticking with one OS, limiting users choices but making sure the products usability is on par with the iPhone, then they would outsell the iPhone in that case.

Aye i'd have an iPhone over a nokia everyday thanks, but i'd have android over OSX too.

It's just as simple to use and you can do more with it.
