This week on strictly a new intro .....
Sharanski
30-09-2009
It's time to play the music
It's time to light the lights
It's time to meet the Fruppets on the Fruppet Show tonight.

It's time to put on makeup
It's time to dress up right
It's time to raise the curtain on the Fruppet Show tonight.

(Fruppets are celebs who can't dance especially of the Garraway / Sargent skool of prancing -- but glory in the spectacle of the "show" + more camera time for themselves)

From the balcony -- STATLER AND WALDORF:
(Craig Revel Horwood and a bored and tired Len):

Why do we always come here
I guess we'll never know
It's like a kind of torture
To have to watch the show

Your host tonight: fuggy headed FOZZIE BEAR (doddery Bruce)
Ambitious co-host: trying to trip up the host MISS PIGGY (Tess)

Drum roll and too much enthusiasm: ANIMAL (Bruno)
Sarcastic judge (recently dropped): RIZZO THE RAT (Arlene)

New replacement judge: ANNIE SUE (Miss Piggy’s niece) – a young upstart played by Alesha

New backstage/ITT interviewer: THE SWEDISH CHEF – will put contestants at ease if all questions are completely unintelligible.

So associated with SCD that you cannot think of the programme without him but will never win or take over from the fuzzy haired host: KERMIT (Anton du Beke)

Stuntman/daredevil and never will follow the rules: GONZO (Brendan Cole)*

*Fans of The Muppets will be aware that “Camilla the Chicken” is Gonzo’s true love and Brendan’s original partner was of course Camilla Dallerup

Can you think of any others ......?

I suggest you have a look through the Strictly limericks thread, where last year I wrote a limerick in honour of Bruce's sketch with Fozzie on the Muppet Show in the 1970s.

Also. . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjakg...om=PL&index=12

Do you have a link to the Strictly Limericks thread?

(I am not aware of it, as you can see I am not the *most* active person on DS, but join in when I can)

Cannot open YouTube clips whilst at work + have no internet at home, but might get to an internet cafe sometime to have a look at it!

Great minds definitely think alike! Watch the start of Aaron & Karina's Quickstep on Dancing With The Stars on Monday night in the USA - and then the judges at the end! Starts about 2.05.

Thanks for posting that. It put a real smile on my face!

Genius from DWTS

I fear we need some of that inventiveness on Strictly if the show's to be saved.
