I'm not sure what insurance you're referring to, but my son just took out insurance for his property whilst he's at uni and an iPhone was classed as a mobile phone and covered for theft, accidental damage and loss and up to £150 airtime abuse for £39. If you live in your own property you can probably get a better quote from one of the online comparison sites.

No phone comes with insurance, you always have to pay monthly for that. Like most things it should be covered on your house insurance, or what ever network you go with will give you an insurance option but they are a rip off imo.

I still don't understand why people pay separate insurance for their phones, would you also insure a laptop separately, an iPod, PS3, Wii? No, I'd hope not, you'd use contents insurance which is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Paying for mobile insurance is a big expense that's often wasted, I wouldn't bother and just use your house insurance instead.

It's £10 a month from 02 but mine is covered by my home insurance.

There are other companies out there that do it for about £5 not sure how good the cover is though.

Just google mobile phone insurance or look on www.moneysavingexpert.com

As long as your contents insurance covers your phone whilst it's out of the house. That's why I mentioned my son's contents insurance, because as a student he had to opt into having mobile phone cover, otherwise it wouldn't be included on his policy.

When I got my iPhone I doubled checked with my Home Insurance (More Than) and they confirmed it was already covered for accidental damage, loss and theft under the "expensive items" section of my policy.

I have lost a single phone in 15 years, but for the cost of these things I wouldn't mind some cover, but Im not paying another 150 quid a year for it!

I presume its going to take longer to replace through the house insurance that it would if I had O2s cover, but for that kind of money I dont really mind...
