Not receiving text messages immediately on O2.
I got an iPhone 3G about 3 weeks ago. Everything has been working fine up until about 4 days ago.
People send me texts but i don't receive them until hours later or even the next day. Sometimes they come in in groups of 5 texts yet they were sent over a spread period of like 12 hours. It is really annoying me. Does anyone know of any solutions at all or experienced the same problems? or would it be just best to ring O2? |

I am also experiencing the same problems. I am not sure whether it is an O2 problem or whether it is an iPhone problem.

Really? That's not good news because then I think it could be a problem with iPhone rather than O2 which is just more hassle. Everyone I know is basically on O2 and none of them have had this problem.
Did your problem start a couple of days ago? |

Two of my friends are experiencing the exact same problem with their iPhones on o2. One even said he had people trying to ring him and they couldn't get through, then he got the missed calls all at once.

Do you think the problem will be solved soon? |

This will be down to o2. They mess with phones software without good reason and screw things up. The did the same thing a few years ago with the Sony Ericsson K700. For months they refused to publically admit a problem. In the end SE's own engineers had to sort the problem out and apparently it took them weeks to work out how o2 screwed up.
Nice to know o2 learn from their mistakes......... |

Not on O2 or have an iPhone but im with Vodafone, i had this issue a few weeks back where texts either dont arrive at all or arrive after a few hours + ppl call me and it calls for them but nothing happens on my phone. It sorted itself out in the end but still get the text issue every now and then

Hi I am also having this problem with O2 in the last few days. Yesterday I had a text sent at 7am that arrived about 4pm, along with a bunch of texts that had been sent throughout the day. I don't have an iphone though.

Hi. Just as update on the iPhone sms problem. I rang o2 and told them what was happening...about the texts being delayed and people ringing me going straight to answer phone.
They first said it could be the signal to which i said that my signal was absolutely full. She said that the signal on the screen of iPhone may say its full when its not due to the 3G connection and how it will always look for a connection before phone signal..or something along those lines. I told her my 3G was switched off and still getting all these problems. She said to try the sim on a different handset to see if the problem was with the phone or the sim card. I tried this and the problem is with the iPhone as my sim works fine on other phones. So the problem was the iPhone, she said to do a full restore on itunes and if the problem was still there go to apple store. I went to restore my iphone but needed to install the latest iphone software before the restore could happen. For some reason a file was corrupt so couldn't restore. That was 2 days ago though, so today I went to itunes and just installed the latest software (not the full restore). Now I seem to be receiving phone calls and text messages immediately so I am happy for now. Do you think I should just go ahead with the full restore anyway just to be sure and to go back to the original settings? Hope that made sense.. thanks. |
