Nice one. Is the picture any good ?. Apparently the quality has always been dodgy - has this improved too ?.

thats strange, why couldnt you receive it already? I dont think anything should've changed to let you receive it just now

some transmitters have done extras like boot power, enabled extra mux's on relays.

I suspect they upped the power of Mux A a little and now it scans in.

espn is broadcast on the same frequency as channel 5, even though i could get channel 5 before it was a weak signal so therefore could not really get espn, with the national retune yesterday they moved channel 5 to a stonger frequency to give people more chance of recieving channel 5, resulting in my signal being stronger and being able to pick up espn at last

but channel 5 has been moved to the same frequency as itv1, c4 (mux 2) but espn is still on the same frequency it always was (mux A), however the guy above said some transmitters have had power upgrades, didnt realise that

yup I'm always the surprising one!

for example. some transmitters may have been operating at say 5,000 watts but are now on say 10,000 watts. as a result coverage is better or stronger. this is in prep for no only digital switchoff but to help more people get a reliable signal.

Hannington operates at:

Mux 1 - 20,000 Watts
Mux 2 - 20,000 Watts
Mux B - 20,000 Watts
Mux A - 20,000 Watts
Mux C - 10,000 Watts
Mux D - 10,000 Watts

I'm lucky in a way that I point to a relay that appears to carry all 6 mux's on it. I get a strong singnal quality of 100% on both the Digihome PVR, and the BT Vision box, the TUTV Box shows up as 8, and the LCD TV in the conservatory shows as 50% bearing in mind its at the end of a daisy chain.

so in your case spaceman05, Mux A might have had a power upgrade or boost. what transmitter are you on?

No, you still need a card.

I have to say, I'm more and more disappointed with ESPN as compared with Setanta. Apart from the odd Premier League game there is literally nothing I want to watch. It seems to be foreign football match, after foreign football match, after foreign football match, which is alright if you like watching foreign football matches. They don't interest me at all. Shame Setanta went belly up.

I noticed that, whilst I like football so its ok for me. its quite an unfair balance though, if you don't like football. no doubt SPL fans will be annoyed since the 'old firm' matches are now on sky.

it does carry american stuff but its late at night and not all avaliable due to timeshare problem on mux A. interestingly though, now five has left mux A, why hasnt ESPN taken up the higher quality that five used to have? I mean ITV3 and 4 don't need it to be frank.
