I have just came across the classic Godley & Creme track "Under your thumb" & the lyrics still freak me out to this day.

Have a listen

Love this song - it's a classic ghost story. Short but so effective. It conjures up wonderful imagery with the lyrics and his voice matches the lyrics well.

There's another ghost story song by Stan Ridgeway called 'Camouflage'; but it doesn't quite have the same appeal to me as 'Under Your Thumb'.

...especially when it's played on a horrible stereo system which sounds tinny and highlights the sound of screaming cats in a shower... eeeesh! The first time I heard the album was on an awful stereo and this song was bad... the rest was awesome.

Wow, about a year ago I heard a mash-up and it was just sooo wrong. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love mixed with Ofra Haza - Im Nin Aloo. You have to her it to understand it's shock value, it was just so blinking awful.

It's by Keith West and it was out before I was even born. Once you've heard it on the radio over the years, it's difficult to forget it, ha ha.

Here he is. Different to what I thought he would actually look like.

Oi Grocer Jack - come back with my post.

'Excerpt From a Teenage Opera' aka The Grocer Jack song. There was also that nutter who had a hit with 'Fire' in the 60's called The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

Watch out Mr Brown - your hair's on fire!

I was listening to Terrapin Station by Grateful Dead last night and I thought it was really weird - went on for over 10 mins and was mainly instrumental rather than music. It was rather freaky.

THANK YOU

thank you for posting my favorite song OF ALL TIME!!!!

you may not be old enough, but when they did top of the pops, kevin godley sang the song with his eyes closed and his THUMBS UP waving all over the place ..... like he was in a trance ..... PERFECTLY fitting the song IMO (probably know that when watching the youtube clip )

and i used to COPY HIM DOING IT!!!!!

there, you now have a deep dark secret of mine

pity they didn't do a video for it (although i do remember they did some sort of short for it) as it would have been creepy as heck

two others ..... HOTEL CALIFORNIA and CAMOFLAGE (stan ridgeway) does it for me

oh and yeah pretty much for the hidden track for jagged little pill, but i didn't realise that until NOW ..... THANKS for ruining it for me now!!!!

now i'll think of it as some sort of psycho stalker song from now on, and not a simple song of alanis taking a shower

DAMN YOU TO HECK

I think I've still got the original vinyl singles of both of those.

'Fire' is a fab song. I recently purchased it from iTunes.

I don't mind 'Excerpts From a Teenage Opera' apart from when the kids join in. Don't tend to like kids singing on songs. Although I'll make an exception for 'Another Brick in the Wall'.

It doesn't any more but back in the day it first came out 'Lullaby' by The Cure used to freak me somewhat.
All due to the extraordinarily creepy vocals of Robert Smith.

Disturbia freaks me out but in a kick ass "what a hell of a tune" way. I just love the video.
