I thought Claudia Winkleman was hilarious tonight saying about feeling she should leave Ali and Brian to themselves only she can't. Love her interviewing technique, subtly pointing out the obvious.

Brian definitely seemed to take Claud's comments in better humour than he took Len's over the weekend, I thought he was going to snap in the Tesspit. Mind you, Claudia could hardly ignore the body language between Ali and Brian tonight; I know he had his hands clasped together, but Ali was sitting so close she may as well have been in his lap!

Same! I never really liked him before but I think the partnership of him and Jo is lovely, they really seem to get on well together. I didn't expect to warm to Jo either but I have.

Totally agree. Ali and Brian were sizzling, but Jo and Brendan were pretty warm too, in a different sort of way.
ITT is SO good this year. Claudia is playing a blinder.
Liked the piece on the runners. Agree that it's a great job but really hard work!!
I didn't sense any warm and fuzzy feelings between Rav & Aliona but it wasn't completely cold either. I was neutral on him so I'm not bothered that he's gone really.
I'm loving Craig this series. He's very funny (loved the comment about him being the fashion expert now).
Jo and Brendan are very sweet together and I really like Ali and Brian.

Yeah, you can tell that Ali and Brian are definately more than just friends, whereas Brendan and Jo are clearly very close, but in a friendly way. Brendan seems really protective of Jo, which I find really sweet and unusual for him.

I'm exactly the same
I thought Jo would be annoying but I've really warmed to her, and I like how protective Brendan is of her.
Craig's outfit was the best thing on ITT tonight, followed by a worried looking James at the sight of Vincent clearly enjoying being sprayed with fake tan.

As the show went on I think Niles developed into the kind of man many women dream - someone who adores you and all your faults
I watched R&A's dance again and I think part of the problem is when they were in hold they danced too far apart. In fact, I've never seen a couple on Strictly dance so far apart ever! If they had worked more on their hold then Aliona could have led Rav more (I know it is supposed to be the other way around, but this is Strictly!) and maybe he could have used her to get back on the beat when he slipped up. Lilia said something similar last week about Craig needing to listen more to Flavia meaning listen to her body and feel the dance - that's what Rav needed to do, but was too far away to even try!
I also think that there may have been lots of QS steps in the dance, but they were badly executed and imho this is a prime example of when a couple should have kept it simple, but done well. After watching it back again I still think the routine was just far too hard - I'd love to see a pro couple get that huge leap right. The music meant every little mistake was highlighted.
I'm not sure Aliona knows yet how to get a Strictly celeb around the dance floor and through a routine! I hope she gets another try, but I also hope she isn't walking away from this competition thinking the judges were wrong and no one could have done any better with Rav because it just isn't true.

I agree - the gapping was the most obvious problem with the Ravioli quickstep. The thing is, his gapping was bad in the tango too, so I didn't see as much of an improvement as I would have liked on that front.

I imagine because in between some of the extreme reactions (on both side of the spectrum), there's been a bit of debate. Sigh. I wish we were allowed to either know exactly what happened or just not know at all...
Yeah. I do wonder if it was meant to be a big middle finger to the people who broke the story... but it was a nice change of pace!

I never thought of that. ITT usually does something like this every year and I guess this was perfect timing. Do you think it was brought forward deliberately?
It was the first time this series I'd seen Flavia having a really good laugh - I was a bit worried about her and Craig!

Nah, I'm just a bit of a cynic.
I like Craig. He's from where I'm from, so I feel I really should support him... but I'm afraid it's Flavia I have a problem with. Much less so this year than in the past, though, I have to say - perhaps she's growing on me?

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure I had understood her. I think I get confused by the meaning of 'basic' - in that sense it means easy, but sometimes it seems to be used to mean 'the real thing'. I think they were discussing Anton and Laila's tango, they were talking about it having lots of 'basic' as if that meant it was a proper tango and no 'messing about', not as if it was easy. But I'm not a dancer perhaps I'm just not always understanding the comments.

`Basic` does get confusing to me too !
On SCD because they need to wow the audience some pros go for more complicated showy dances and sometimes ignore the basic steps of the routine. Suppose it also depends how good the celeb is to start with.
