Thinking of buying this as the price comes down to £499 from £599 when you trade in a old TV.....plus you get 3 years cover.

Looks good judging by the reviews I have read thou I think it came out in 2006???!!

Thoughts??

Thank you

Presumably it's a 40S5500 - 5500's are this years models.

Just checked the manufacture date on a box, and it says 04/2009.

on the Currys site the title is SONY KDL40S550 40" 1080p LCD TV but in the description it is Sony KDL-40S5500

so presumably they just forgot to add the extra zero in the title.

it does seem as though this TV is a 2006 model, as according to Amazon it has been available there since 1 Jul 2006

If Amazon say that, then it's because they know nothing about TV's

It's a 2009 model, as are all the 5500's.

Saw this in my local currys today & with the 3 year cover it looks a great deal.

Top branded tv, 40", 1080p, all sorts of media card connections that something can't be right can it..?

Anybody on here use this tv..?

I'd believe Nigel vs Amazon on this particular fact!

Last years were the 4000 series, the 3000 the year before and the 2000 series before that....if I recall.
