Apparently, according to DS 'Ten things you don't know about RW', he was studying for a law degree for four years before acting/modelling bug bit him.

This being 'thick' business he's portraying, I have a feeling that it's probably a persona. He might even think this would endear himself with the public this way, y'know, talking about his big manhood, etc.

Then again, I was quite surprised he wasn't writing particularly well (seemed worse than Craig Kelly in that respect) in his blog, but perhaps that's another 'act'?

This is me being 'cynical'.

His English is terrible in his blog - surprising for someone who did undergraduate law (did he finish or did he spend all four years in the first year?). Still, maybe it is a style he adopts to appear more accessible.

I haven't found him dim when he speaks, just a bit boring. He doesn't come across as someone learning to dance, but like someone who already knows how to dance and is just showing us nice routines. It's all a bit .

From what I read, he started the Degree course but then quit it to pursue his acting career, which seems to have been a wise move.

That's what it seemed like to me too, but how long do degrees last these days anyway? He was there for four years!

Perhaps honing his 'dancing' skills with horizontal rhumbas and cha-cha-chaing away from lectures/course works etc..

From what I have seen of Ricky he really does seem rather dull and slightly boring.

When he gets marks of 9, then goes on to make daft remarks about getting better, and 'it will be close', it appears to be pre-scripted by him to get the viewers on his side and not to make him look big-headed. However in reality his whole demeanor is hardly endearing and there is absolutely nothing in his character to make anyone want to pick up their phone.

So he's guaranteed to get to the final, none of the judges will vote him off in any dance-off, therefore we cast him aside and look for anyone who can beat him.

He has the same stature as Mark Ramprakash, however that is where the similarity ends. Mark was naturally cute and bashful about his dance talent and the persona he exuded endeared him to the viewers.

I think it's the Holyoaks factor.

Certainly don't hate him - just find him dull (and his dance partner manic!).

Just for the record, I actually liked Mark in SCD4, but I have to say, Mark was the real 'silent ones are the dangerous ones', wasn't he? I still recalled the NOTW's infamous report of his 90-minute stamina he sustained in bed, but not with his wife!

One would have thought that would be the end of his chances in SCD, but gawd that final we had 12 million votes, allegedly more than half was in his favour over Matt Dawson.

Sorry, I don't think people are hating him per se. They just don't all take to him. But he's a really good mover, I have to say.

I'd be happy to dance with him

Bed hopping rarely seems to dent a male celebrity's reputation - Beckham hardly got any flack for his alleged indiscretions with that PA - people were actually blaming Posh for not being attentive enough to her husband. It's a double standard that shows sexism is well and truly still alive, unfortunately.

But thank goodness for the Ramprakash family his wife wasn't being blamed for this. In fact, she tried to put on a brave front in the finals and some media slated her for being 'weak'. They continued to hound the family and then I believe it ended with the family being split for a while with Mark not wearing the wedding ring and all, and then the latest I read (could be wrong here) they are trying it out as a famiily again.

As for the double standards, maybe this is so because people like Beckham and Ramparkash for their talents in their respective fields. I don't think the indiscretion of a certain Have I Got News for You host was taken lightly. He was mocked by the two team captains and now we didn't see him much on TV after the public humiliation.

Another case would be the apparent 'indiscretion' of Katie Price towards Peter Andrea. Of course I don't want to believe everything in the media, but she was really annoying me to no end and I actually felt some sympathy for Peter though I didn't really take to him at all. I believe the public didn't take to Katie because she was really, really trashy and bitchy about it all, and not because she was a woman thus the 'double standards'.

Will stop rambling now...

The course would have lasted four years if he'd stayed on it. It doesn't say how long he was actually on the course, just that he started it.
