I am really disappointed that Kristina has another appalling dance partner this year - even one of the more average celebs would have been better than Joe. It has just re-created the JS situation, with people voting to keep them in because they like her and they like an underdog. Yawn.

They've hardly featured at all this week, but yes, it was very wrong of them to make paparrazi camp outside her flat all night long and trail her around London on her birthday....

Sorry...I hate the roll eyes emoticon...but I don't see why they are blamed for the tabloids becoming obsessed with them. It probably annoyed them more than us. You could take a cynical view but I don't believe for one second that they were staging it all for a month and a half.

Can't excuse their dancing, but I think people are too hard on them for everything else.

How can you blame Kristina for the selection of Joe as her dance partner? It's unfortunate that in my view he's worst than John S. At least John S made me laugh.
Apparently, the selection of dance partners in not base on how they dance I would have thought, height and personality in a major factor.
Look how well Kristina and Brian are getting on with their celebs outside of dancing.

I forgot my original post, yes we are stuck with both Joe C and Jo woods (who I adore) until their up against a better dancer. So sit back ,enjoy the journey and don't take it to seriously.

Don't be so silly, at what point did I blame Kristina? I like her and wish she had a better partner.

I think there's a hierarchy though (as well as combination). I think Joe and Kristina fall into the 'Fan of Celeb' and 'Fan of the Pro' and I think they're pretty low on that hierarchy and can only save you so many times. After a point, entertainment, good dancing and the dreaded 'J' word trumps them. I can see him staying in for a few weeks more by can't see them being saved for longer if his dancing/personality stay the same.

Just a thought........how many people on this thread who are up in arms actually voted for someone else ?

Its just the way it goes we have been in this situation year and year so why do people get so upset about it.

Well I voted for Chris and Ola, as I think he has potential and hopefully the fact he went to pieces in the quickstep is a one off. I thought that after last night Joe was sure to be in the dance off, quite often the week a celeb 'improves' is the week they are in trouble. I think Joe is quite the worst as I think the others even if they are poor are still trying to give it a go and try and get it right , but it was difficult to locate proper steps in his posturing, and with Kristina dancing around him.

If this rumbles on we will have JS mark 2 on our hands - and I thought John Sergeant coped better with the dances considering his age, fitness level etc.

Joe C. is not enough of a cult hero to be another John Serjeant, but he could well be another Kenny the Kilt. So we could well see one, perhaps even two, reasonable dancers knocked out before Joe gets sent home in round 6 or 7.

And isn't that part of the fascination of Strictly, that we love to be outraged as much as we love to be delighted?

He is, ironically, MUCH more of a cult hero with the male part of the audience through his boxing and Sports Personality of the Year achievements. John Sergeant was just a journalist (a witty and engaging one, to be sure, but not with any "cult" following.)

Of course, the male sector tend not to vote on Strictly!

Interesting

I can tell by looking into his eyes that JC is a little short in the penile department.

Joe is rubbish, I like that he has improved, but he will always be crap. However, being a typical girl, I am enjoying watching him "off dance" with Kristina. He can't take his eyes, or hands, off her. He is so besotted...I just want to watch that for a while.

I thought joe would adapt to this and be a good partner for kristina, i think she felt that too. In reality hes turned out to be wooden with a personality to match.

I don't think pro dancer fan bases actually cut much ice in the SCD voting populace as a whole actually. Last year we lost the popular Flavia, Anton, Karen, Darren and Lilia first - dull new girl Hayley was only eliminated after them. This year it's the darling of the DS boards Matt and Lilia again who were the first to go.

I don't understand the sympathy vote unless it's someone who is otherwise talented having a bad night or a dance that doesn't suit them - except in the case of JS who was very charismatic - but it exists and always has - it only annoys me when someone decent goes because of it - and that said I'm glad Criag got it as I think he's got potential. The crumpet vote clearly doesn't work either - Rav has shown that being handsome won't save on its own and it only got Mark Foster so far last year. I think people are saving Joe because of the rumoured showmance or because of a sporting following.

I don't think Kristina has been knowlingly handed another dud as people thought he'd be good but however Evander Hollyfield was rubbish as the DWTS chrimbo crossover demonstrated (and apparently according to Monkseal the other boxer on DWTS was also bad) so this idea that boxers are good dancers appears to be a myth. I'm hoping that the public will get tired of Joe before someone really good goes instead.

Mr LL suggested yesterday that people could be saving Joe because they all put money on him to win before the series started. I doubt that's the only reason, but it was a possibility I hadn't previously considered

He'd be a tiny bit tolerable if he looked like he gave a damn, but he has that stupid smug grin on his face as if to say, 'Not listening, na-na-nah-nah!' and carries on regardless. And I don't know what it says about boxers these days - the first thing you used to do in training was a basic dance step to learn to distribute your weight properly (you punch with your whole body, in movement, from one foot to the other, then move again), so any decent boxer should be suited to some kind of dancing. Maybe they tell them these days to lift weights and stand still!

Broke my own rules and voted once for Chris - as I think he is very good and put the QS down to a glitch, plus I like him and Ola as a partnership, and voted once for Craig as I remain convinced that there's a dancer in there if he can just stop freezing every time he steps on the floor

That's a very good point, he was favourite, although it didn't work for Mark last year who was early favourite.

At this stage Joe still being there doesn't bother me too much, as there's a fair bit of deadwood to loose as yet, Rav's no great loss, it's when better and improving dancers start going, that's when it starts to grate - but as always, people can obviously vote for who the heck they want, for whatever reasons they want, won't always understand the reasons myself, but there you go.

Very stiff dancer. A world championship boxer, undefeated too, light on his feet in the ring and he's leaden on the dance floor. Go figure! I get the feeling he's a shy man outside of the ring. Actors do have some advantage because they're performers whereas other celebs may not have that natural confidence outside of their profession. I suspect that's the case with Joe.

He doesn't have the confidence to really let himself go on the dance floor. I wonder if he had a few hours with an actor, did some basic actor training, that might help his performances on the dance floor. That helped Gethin Jones a few series ago. He was a bit stiff, did some training with an actor and he gave some good performances on the floor.
