Does anyone know if and how you can upgrade the firmware on a v500 to hold more sms messages?

If you flash it with the V600 firmware you shoud be able to store between 150-200 sms messages, though that will be less if you have e-mails stored as well.

Flashing with the V600 firmware also gives you support for video playback, I might add, if you're interested in that as well.

I've not really heard anything about V500 firmwares being available yet, but the V600 firmware on the V500 has been tried loads of times (see here:http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=297649), so it should be perfectly safe for you to do it.

One thing to note, though, is that certain options in your new V600 menus won't do anything for you since they are only supported by the V600's hardware, i.e. situation lights. Shouldn't cause you any problems, just thought I'd mention it in case redundant menu options annoyed you.

Apart from that, I'd say you may as well go for it...
